Ten years.. ten years of absolute pure Star Trek gaming, excellent fan community and unstoppable fun. That's the ride it's been and within a couple of days, we'll be reaching our 10th Anniversary of being in existence, an absolute achievement to be extremely proud of.
I speak for everyone in Starfleet Command and Starfleet Headquarters I'm sure, when I thank members past and present, for the massive contributions you've made over the years that has made this community as strong as it is and stood the test of time, without you there wouldn't be a {UFP} that we know today. While I can't name every member that has made that really appreciated contribution, you know who you are and I hope you keep on being awesome members!
The past year has been a positive one with numerous memories that I'm sure people will hold for years to come. We had a successful first official fleet meetup at Thorpe Park in the UK last year which we've considered a tremendous success, with another one being held this year in Central London, UK in celebration of our 10th Anniversary.
We've had the news that Star Trek: Infinite Space was at very least being put on hold, but instead of holding back, we moved forward with a new dedicated division specifically for the Klingons in Star Trek: Online which has been going from strength to strength, thanks to the enthusiasm and skill from the command teams past and present so far. With STO going free to play, we've had an unprecidented amount of gamers wanting to join to call the {UFP} their online home and I don't blame them!
Times are changing though and the fleet is continuing to move forward. It is our long term hope to continue with our movement to a Star Trek community oriented site rather than being a solely dedicated clan environment, because to us, community is important. That's why we've cut down on the amount of admin/beaurocracy work that goes on behind the scenes, thanks to our ever growing Fleet Manager systems which I have to personally thank Sharpkiller for, for the countless hours he's spent making sure it works just right. It's a feat that others have been unable to complete and I think he and the engineering team including Jordan should be extremely proud of.
I could go further and review the years and years before now but we live in the present and I hope members will appreciate the changes that Starfleet Command will be making in the future, including an announcement I'll be making shortly, thanks to a Fleet Proposal submitted by one of our members.
I'd like to pay tribute to our hundreds of donators over the years, particularly the past few because I don't think you guys are thanked enough by your contribution to deliver an almost unparalled Star Trek gaming experience for all of our members. While you may not get extra privileges, I hope my personal thanks and the gratitude of the rest of the fleet is enough in return for your kind actions.
Mikester92 has posted up a schedule of events which will be taking place during our Anniversary Week, the 28th April to the 5th of May 2012. It can be viewed here. We love to celebrate events because it means extra fun, whether you're a new or old member, make sure you keep track of the upcoming week's events, you're all invited!
As an extra part of the celebrations, Starfleet Command is running another raffle this year but with a twist. There are four prizes up for grabs this year, that being 5000 Cryptic Points, 1000 Cryptic Points, The TNG Movie Set in BLU-RAY and a Star Trek Constitution Class Blueprint drinking mug. Once the week begins, you'll start seeing a note on the forums prompting you to grab a raffle ticket and you can do this once per day. So a member signing into the forums each day and taking part in the week's events, have more chance of winning than those signing in just once! We'll be announcing the very lucky winners at the end of the Anniversary Week. Click here for more details!
So I hope you're all looking forward to the week ahead and join me in wishing the United Federation of Planets, a Happy 10th Birthday!
