Acting FA and Rank Changes

The following two news items could have been posted separately, but I thought it might be better to put two bits of news into one so here goes. Firstly, I want to briefly announce that Starfleet Command has decided to put me into the Acting Fleet Admiral position once more for the short-term, while John Hathaway continues his absence away from the fleet.
I hope you can join me in wishing him well and that he will hopefully return soon. I have been in contact with him via email and he hopes to be back sometime soon. In the meantime however, the job of running the fleet must continue as we proceed into 2012. I would ask that any related queries be directed to myself for the time being, instead of Hathaway.
I also want to formally announce some changes to the Non Commissioned Rank system that the fleet uses for members solely interested in gaming. I previously mentioned it in the Fleet Address opening statement to the Anniversary Week, but obviously I wanted to provide a bit more detail as to the precise changes.
The changes come about thanks to a Fleet Proposal asking that the system be reformed. Well the good news is that, that is now the case and the changes which are now in effect, are as follows:
We're firstly, decreasing the amount of NCO ranks that we utilise, so that the ability to fully recognise and promotion is visible.
The previous NCO ranks were:
- Warrant Officer 4
- Warrant Officer 3
- Warrant Officer 2
- Warrant Officer 1
- Master Chief Petty Officer of the Fleet
- Command Master Chief Petty Officer
- Master Chief Petty Officer
- Senior Chief Petty Officer
- Chief Petty Officer
- Petty Officer 1st Class
- Petty Officer 2nd Class
- Petty Officer 3rd Class
- Crewman 1st Class
- Crewman 2nd Class
- Crewman 3rd Class
This is now the current system:
- Warrant Officer
- Master Chief Petty Officer of the Fleet
- Command Chief Petty Officer
- Master Chief Petty Officer
- Senior Chief Petty Officer
- Chief Petty Officer
- Petty Officer 1st Class
- Petty Officer 2nd Class
- Petty Officer 3rd Class
- Crewman
Also take note, only one member at a time can have the rank of 'Master Chief Petty Officer of the Fleet', primarily to add originality and limit somewhat the amount possibly receiving the Warrant Officer rank at any one time.
On a related note, there will now be semi-automatic promotions taking place once a month for those who have the rank of Petty Officer 3rd or 2nd Class. I think that's a perfect compromise for those that wanted some rank progression but didn't want to create a system of non-personal recognition. Any other promotions will take place at the seasonal UFPAC as usual.
Anyway that's everything for now, I hope everyone has a lovely week and happy gaming.
