New Events System in the works

Gaming events are one of the important aspects of a gaming community, by any means and in {UFP} I'd like to think we're no different in providing the best possible events, more so the best in organising our events. With the development of Fleet Manager by several members of the fleet, we're able to develop more custom systems in-house, that are completely made for the fleet.
For that reason, I'm very much pleased to announce to the {UFP} today, that myself and Sharpkiller have been working on an event system built into our website which you will hopefully be seeing/using very soon. It makes sense to have a better system for event officers to post events and members to look at them (as event officers know, I can be fussy about the format of the event title in the Calendar
).
A picture speaks a thousand words, so here's two which might better show what this system does, rather than me explaining it (bear in mind these are concept shots and not images of the actual system):

Our aim was to provide a more professional system of posting events (making it even easier for event officers) and more so, showing gaming events more professionally to our members. It can be a little hap-hazard with the current system and in this way, it makes it significantly more simple and easier to use.
Events will all have a default priority, but certain people will have access to the system to have the ability to 'feature' an event. This means it displays as a larger image on a page, portraying its potential importances that as many as possible attend.
What's perhaps a nifty feature of this system is that it allows you to tell us whether you will be attending, this can be helpful in letting the event officer know who to expect and somewhat telling of what the most successful sorts of events are. It will work in pretty much the same way the STO in-game event system works in that respect.
As a quick note for the design junkies out there, the design we went for aims to continue to provide the LCARS feel, but laid out in a much more logical and practical way, that generally makes it more useable than it otherwise would have been. Be it known I had originally decided to RP it a little and make this page similar to a Holodeck Schedule panel we see in the series, but given our forum area called 'Starfleet Holodeck' already in existence, we agreed that we shouldn't necessarily design it and talk about it in that way.
So anyway, I hope you've enjoyed this post and you look forward to seeing this in action as much as we are. We'll make a further announcement once it launches, our hope is that you make the most out of it!
