Is Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston set to make his Star Trek debut?

Could we already know the face of the villain for Star Trek 3? Breaking Bad fans might, as the rumor mill is running once again!

Along with reports that not one, not two, but three new female characters may be joining the cast, rumors have begun circulating that Walter White himself (Bryan Cranston for the un-initiated) may well be added to the cast of the upcoming Star Trek sequel as it's villain.

Although nothing has been confirmed, I think Cranston could add a certain something to a villain role in the Star Trek universe.

Rolling off the success also of 2014's Godzilla, could this be another potential blockbuster for Cranston to add to his list?

Metro.co.uk said "However if he were to be cast it would be yet another addition to an increasingly crowded post-Breaking Bad CV, which also includes the likes of 2014 summer blockbuster Godzilla and the forthcoming biopic of blacklisted Hollywood screenwriter Donald Trumbo."

I only hope that Star Trek 3 turns out to be the blockbuster it promises to be, but the major pre-production problems reported by FNS - including Robert Orci being replaced as director by Justin Lin - already make me doubt the outcome.

We can only hope that these changes are for the better. But then, would anyone really be surprised if it turned out to be a flop?

I would have to say I am still very wary of all these changes and I'm not overly optimistic of what will come out of the mess that has become Star Trek "3". There is still very little information on with this will be to even start to speculate if it'll be good or not in my opinion. Is the rumor of casting Bryan Cranston as the villain a good thing? I don't know. I loved his performance in Breaking Bad... but I don't want a rehash of a Breaking Bad in space either. This is Star Trek we are talking about afterall... not another shoot'em up and blow them up in space with spaceship with race strip...

I'm not very optimistic for Star Trek 3, it has had so many changes in its development that I believe it's going to struggle when Star Trek 3 does come out. If Bryan Cranston does turn out to be the villain in Star Trek 3, I will/do have doubts about if he can really portray a good villain in Star Trek, even if it is JJ Verse.

Seriously, anyone really liking the JJ movies, or looking forward to the third "Star Trek" installment in that twisted row of films, should be honest to her/himself and stop claim to be a Trek-fan.

I am a Star Trek fan through and through. I also really enjoy the JJ movies. Maybe it's the ability to look at things with an objective point of view that allows me to enjoy the JJ movies. I really don't like Enterprise. In my opinion it killed the TV franchise through multiple reasons, but I don't think that other fans who like Enterprise should stop claiming to be a Trek Fan. Everyone is entitled to enjoy whatever they want to enjoy.

I agree about some parts with what you're saying about Star Trek: Enterprise. Their heart was in the right place, they just unfortunately killed the show. Season 4 of Enterprise was starting to get a little bit good and the ending for the show with Commander William Riker & Commander Deanna Troi on the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D just killed the show for me, it all being a holodeck simulation, worse ending ever to a Star Trek show.
