William Shatner, best known as Captain Kirk, is preparing to cross the roughly 2,400 miles, from Chicago to Los Angeles, on a one of a kind futuristic-looking tricycle that he helped design to help raise awareness for the American Legion, which is heralded as the world's largest veteran’s organization.

"If design can move you emotionally, which it should" Shatner said in a video previewing the design and building process, "I want to see that in our motorcycle. The motorcycle that Shatner will be riding, according to the Chicago Tribune is a landjet with a V8 and exposed seating "only for a captain". It is called the Rivet motorcycle and was designed, in part, by American Wrench.

”The ride will kick off on June 23rd from the American Wrench shop just outside of Chicago.” American Wrench said in a statement on their website, "The ride will be an 8-day journey showcasing Rivet in various cities across the United States and will be following the legendary Route 66 for most of the trek.” Shatner, along with members of American Wrench and American Legion will be making stops in St. Louis, Kansas City, Oklahoma City, Amarillo, Albuquerque, Flagstaff, and Las Vegas, before ending their ride on June 30 in Los Angeles.

According to the American Legion’s website they currently host 2.4 million members. The American Legion also host fundraisers and events such as career fairs for veterans, and have won numerous benefits.

The entire trip will be filmed and shown on an unnamed show later on. Anyone interested in purchasing one of the Rivet motorcycles will have to fight for it, as they will only be making a limited and unknown number of cycles. To find out more information please visit Rivet Motors.

hmm... interesting. You know people seems to always notice more when Shatner has bad press. Something like this is nice to see, specially for our veterans. Yet again a very good find Kraziyk! Keep them coming!

This is just outstanding on Mr. Shatner's part. The American Legion is a great organization for our Vet's. People just believe that the Legion is just a place for "old" Vet's to go and socialize about the wars they were in. In reality, the Legion has done a lot of great things for our Vet's.
