The Starfleet Academy Experience

When Star Trek The Experience closed in 2008, we were left with very little in the way of a real life Star Trek experience, pun not intended. Thanks to Event Marketing Services (EMS) and the Canada Aviation and Space Museum (CASM) in Ottawa, Canada there will be a new way to experience Star Trek.

The Starfleet Academy Experience will open it’s doors on May 26, 2016. The academy will allow visitors to experience Star Trek as a Starfleet cadet, while serving as an educational experience for everyone.

The tour will include NASA Warp Drive Theory, Trek Technology and how it has influenced our own technology, plus the latest work on phasers and teleporters.
StarTrek.com said students will go through an orientation then “into a rigorous training program involving simulated science, engineering, medical and command courses, through to graduation, and finally to the deck of an active starship. The experience is enriched with the actual science behind the science fiction of Star Trek.” You’ll also be given a chance to beat the Kobayashi Maru and pilot a starship from an actual working bridge.

EMS is working with CBS Consumer Products to license the exhibit, and will be touring North America with this exhibit. The Ottawa stop will run May 26 till the end of September. As of this article the listing for tour stops is limited, but you can view it here, and more are scheduled to be announced.

“We are very proud to be developing this wonderful exhibition with our partners EMS and CBS Consumer Products,” said Alex Benay, President and CEO of the Canada Science and Technology Museums Corporation. “We are certain it will prove to be a ‘must-see’ for the 2016 summer tourists and locals alike, as well as a wonderful complement to the Canada Aviation and Space Museum’s existing visitor experiences and offerings on aviation and space travel.”
