There are numerous books on the shelves about Captain Kirk, his exploits, his mistakes, and his successes. But what about all the women he shared a moment, or a kiss with? Well with the help of the Star Trek community is trying to raise $2,500 to publish her new book, “The Ladies of Kirk”.

The 42 page, full color, softbound book will cover the nineteen women that Kirk has at the very least kissed. I’ll be honest I was surprised to find out that it was only 19. Each one of the women will be hand drawn, by McMorris, and accompanied by a short summary of the women and a memorable quote. “Every evening I would draw a lady and email it to my Dad (who introduced me to Star Trek) so it would be waiting in his inbox in the morning. He was very pleased with this.” McMorris said.

“I grew up watching Star Trek TOS, and the women's groovy costumes were
always one of my favorite parts of the show.” McMorris said, going on to say that this may have been why she never got into the next generation. “I work as a professional children's book illustrator, and earlier this year I was working through some challenging commissions. I wanted to give myself something fun to draw and look forward to, and I thought that drawing the women's colorful, unique costumes from Star Trek would be a fun project.” McMorris said.

At the time of this article being written the campaign has raised $5,630, with a goal of $2,500. As with most crowdfunding campaigns there have been additional stretch goals added for all monies raised past the original goal. At $4,300 all backers at the $15 level or higher will receive a “Ladies of Kirk” bookmark. While if the campaign raises $8,600 there will be a “Ladies of Kirk” coloring book added as a reward tier or an add-on. McMorris also mentioned that it has been suggested that she create a Ladies of Riker version of her book.

With seven days to go, the campaign has meet its goal and then some. If you’re interested in getting one of the Ladies of Kirk books, or simply following the campaign you can do so on their Kickstarter page.

WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THE LADIES OF KIRK? HOW ABOUT A LADIES OF RIKER VERSION?

Just an observation, but I'm just guessing you can't count 10 women for Picard, much less 19!

The only women I remember with Picard were Beverly Crusher, Vash, Marta Batanides, and the "handsome" woman who slapped his face. That could all be illustrated in an afternoon.

There are possible plans for another book, one that was suggested was a Women of Riker.

This is such a great idea for a project, sorely tempted to chip in to get myself a paperback copy!

Thanks for the article, KraziyK. Smile
