Star Trek: New Horizons - Total Conversion Mod

Stellaris sees a much expected and anticipated mod which converts the game on a large scale.

Stellaris, the space 4X developed by Paradox, which will be seeing it's first major update soon, has also now got this mod which converts the game into a Star Trek one. Naturally the theme itself played well to being modded in this way and Paradoxs recent model changes may have helped with bringing this mod to life. Although, modders would have still found a way regardless! The mod will take you through the canon universe, from 2150 through to 2400, promising to tell a story along the way. In the features listed on the Steam workshop page (link at the end), the Borg are an unplayable faction in the Delta quadrant. As the mod is updated, you may find that you won't be able to use an existing saved game at the moment, they recommend starting a new game when there is a new version.

Currently the mod describes itself as being an alpha build, so no doubt a lot of work still needs to be done. The video below shows off some of the model work done on this ships, you see Federation and Borg ships in this video. There are many more faction ships in the mod and that are playable.

Everything so far looks promising for this mod, with the addition of Kyojin's mod of civilian trade being integrated, this looks to be what a lot of Star Trek fans were looking for in a game. If you already have Stellaris or have been thinking about it, this mod is defiantly something to take a look at and if you notice a bug or something missing, drop the modders a message on the Steam workshop page which you can find here: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfile.../?id=688086068

This will be a mod the UFP will run multiplayer events for in the future, with Starfleet Tactical, so look forward to those as well! What do you think of Star Trek: New Horizons?

Stellaris is significantly more complex than Sins, so it is more true to the 4x strategy, but less fleet control - I personally prefer Stellaris (at the moment)! Have a look around for some gameplay videos!

Sins you generally build stuff around the planet and resources are easier to gather/defend, there's defiantly a lot more micromanagement needed for Stellaris, personally I like that a bit more. Though, it's a Paradox game too, so they like to add another level of difficulty to it because reasons, though easy once you know what's going on.

Do bear in mind that at the moment they only have the ENT era of ships available to you in New Horizons. Its still Alpha, so they've not released the other generations.

This is true, however other Trek mods haven't made the progress these guys have - in the future Tactical will support both mods, until they are both "complete", then a decision will be made and a public vote on which one we will focus our efforts on.

Very nice. I bought Stellaris on release, but from the beginning I had identification issues with the native game theme. With the total conversion now it's solved Wink
