Ubisoft are publishing a VR game which puts you in the role of a bridge officer, developed by inhouse studio, Red Storm Entertainment.

Coming later this year, Ubisoft will be releasing the VR game Star Trek: Bridge Crew, coming out November 29th, on three VR platforms, the Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Playstation VR. This is will be the second of three new VR titles that Ubisoft is putting on the market this year, while they will also be adding VR to some of their previous titles. The game promises to be a multiplayer VR experience, where you each take on a role of a Starfleet officer, preforming tasks relating to your station. We have seen games and mods in the past explore this idea, such as Artemis Bridge Simulator and RPG-X, however you will have a generated storyline for you and not have to create it yourself.
Your crew will be on-board the USS Aegis for a variety of missions, the key features listed on the website also state that alongside the storyline, there is a mission generator to keep you going for hours. These missions can be solo adventures or co-op, one may assume that a solo adventure gives you some AI crew otherwise, it's going to be hard to maintain all those stations! When it comes down to co-op play, it may well be similar to the other games I mentioned, you will need to work together and be the basis of some great roleplay adventures.
Given the screenshots of the game, we are looking at the JJVerse (Kelvin timeline) story, there are defiantly Klingons involved, the websites game overview tells us this! The concept of the game is defiantly solid and has been specifically built for VR, how it plays though, I couldn't tell you, maybe wait for reviews on that one. My own personal opinion is that I would like a VR game based in the Prime timeline because I am more a fan of TNG and later, but to each their own and, I still think, as a game it's a great idea.
If you would like to read more and see some of the other screenshots yourself, check out the Ubisoft website for the game here and you'll get the full overview and list of features that are promised.
What are your thoughts? Are you interested in a VR Star Trek game and do you even have the room to play it?
Would love this game! It's just a shame it's only on VR, I think they will realise that is a mistake which will, sadly, cause the games downfall - in my opinion that is. That being said, I would still love to play it!
Looks great, but like many others have stated its the expense of purchasing a VR system to play it ( I am holding out hope that they release a version which doesn't require the VR headset)
