The latest season of Star Trek Online is now upon us, well shortly anyway, specifically on January 26th and comes along with a new featured episode, new space queues, ships and more!

This release date is the first update to come out for the 7th anniversary of Star Trek Online, which we will be celebrating next month, but this is only for the PC version, with the console update to be confirmed. The celebration of the anniversary will include a number of giveaways, plus two new space queues, a new Research and Development System catergory along with the featured episode "Of Signs and Portents."

One of the many rewards available for players to obtain will be the new Tier 6 Lukari Science vessel, the design of which was picked last Autumn, alongside this players will be able to participate in two familiar daily missions - Omega Molecule Stabilization Daily and Party Patrol, which will give you more rewards, especially useful is the upgrade tokens from the Omega Molecules.

"Of Signs and Portents" will be the first time we get to see Tony Todd's new in-game character, General Rodek, and we will get more details about how the Tzenkethi are causing trouble for all of the Alliance races. With the two new space queues - “Gravity Kills” and “The Tzenkethi Front” - we will also be getting a complete new space battlezone, focused around the one Federation enemy that hasn't had the spotlight, even in canon Trek. The story behind the battlezone is to stop the production and deployment of protomatter weapons.

The Tzenkethi were only mentioned in a couple of Deep Space Nine episodes, and very loosely referenced other than the fact the Federation used to be at war with them, presumably in the early 2360s whilst Sisko was under Admiral Laytons command. I for one am interested to see what comes from this season and how the Tzenkethi are introduced into the world of Star Trek Online.
