Bridge Crew to include TOS Enterprise

The Star Trek VR game, Bridge Crew, has been delayed again, but this time for good reason - they are adding the TOS Enterprise and bridge to the game.

I am sure that by now most Star Trek fans have heard of the upcoming Virtual Reality game, Star Trek: Bridge Crew, sadly a few days ago it was announced that the game was being delayed again - as it has already, from Autumn 2016 to March 2017 - to May 2017, but this time there is a good reason to not fret about this delay. They have added the TOS Enterprise and Bridge to the game, for players to command whenever they want.

Now this addition has had many people overjoyed about the delay, as a lot of people have a negative attitude towards the Kelvin Timeline films and its general universe, as who wouldn't want to command the classic Enterprise? Well, they will get that opportunity now! It will available as part of the in-game mode, Ongoing Missions, which is designed to procedurally generate solo and co-op missions whilst you are flying around the known universe.

Whilst it is a shame that a non-VR version isn't being released, my fingers are crossed that Ubisoft will eventually release it without the need for VR, because that would just be pure awesome! That all really depends on how well it sells within its current format, whilst I am sceptical about VR being worth the investment, I hope for the sake of those who don't have VR, that they bring it to the larger market.

For those who don't have VR, and want a similar game, then be sure to check out Artemis: Spaceship Bridge Simulator, as this is the next best thing for anyone wanting to command, or be on the bridge of a starship. Artemis has similar principles, in that you can control any number of bridge stations and be part of the vital crew members on-board a ship, and the best part is there are Star Trek mods for it! Check out the video below for more information and a general idea about what it is like!

The official release date is now May 30th, and will arrive on PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, which in the grand scheme of things isn't too far away, but if you have been eager to play the game and are sick of the delays, surely it is a good thing that it is getting delayed and not released too soon? Let me know what you think about the game in the comments below!

"Whilst it is a shame that a non-VR version isn't being released" - This has got me thinking whether there's a sneaky program out there which loads VR games as normal, I'm not sure if this is possible or not.

Great article though Adster!
