The newest season of Star Trek: Online has been announced, with a release date of April 25th, just under a month from today. It has been given the title "Escalation", presumably as a result of the rising tensions that have occurred in the story to this point. The player will be helping the Lukari investigate their historical origins, on top of fighting off the Tzenkethi threat. Screenshots of the Name: EscBodyPre.jpg

Size: 31.5 KBexpansion show a well designed city, complete with neon signs and graffiti, how much the player will actually get to explore this zone however is something we'll have to wait to find out. It could have the potential to be another hub area, like Bajor, although here's hoping there's no mission similar to "Of Bajor" set on this planet.

An additional feature coming to Season 13 will be competitive PvE scenarios, called War Games, these will have 10 players in total, split into two groups of 5, who then have to finish the objective for that mission before the other team does. This is possibly one of the reasons we saw work being made on balance changes, although there is still going to be a that skill gap and the potential for large DPS groups being able to dominate the queues. We will have to see if those balance changes will help newer or less geared players to be able to compete on a level playing field, or if premade groups of 5 are randomly split between the two teams, this would also help prevent massive steamrolling of other players in a competitive queue.

Another way the War Games system is going to work is by adding in a new Player Potential system, this will extend to PvP and assumes that it would match players of equalling skill levels with each other. Not much has been revealed about this system yet, on top of this, there is another new reputation (hope you've been keeping up on those), which will have class specific ground and space sets.

You can read the news about Season 13 on the Perfect World website here.

Additionally, the First Contact Day celebrations have started click here to read more about that, the holoemitter looks like fun!

This is awesome, I have been wanting to dabble into PvP and it appears they are making some cool changes and features, this might be the best time ti get into it!

Other than our own khitomer games, I am not a fan of PvP, although I do applaud the fact that they are at least working on it for those that do love it.

Which brings up the competitive PVE that was in the article. If, as a number of people in the STO forums are worried about, the competitive PVE is going to be the only way to get marks for the new rep, what are the chances of UFP setting up an event for it ? You don't have to be a psychic to know that a bunch of high/max DPSers are going to be teaming up and dominating one half of the competition more often than not, meaning us low DPSers out in the cold (so to speak).

We might to create a seperate event for it but we can do it during STF Events.
