The long-awaited (re)launch of Star Trek on TV is over !

Revealed today by Variety, the premiere of the new TV show will occur on September 24 with the first episode airing on CBS’s television network. A second episode will be immediately available to follow on the new CBS All Access streaming service.

As the website reported : "The series will launch Sunday, Sept. 24 at 8:30 p.m./7:30c on CBS, though that time is approximate due to NFL Football and “60 Minutes” also airing that night. The series premiere will also be available on-demand on CBS All Access and the second episode of the series will be available on the service that same night immediately following the broadcast premiere.

After premiere night, all new episodes will be available on-demand weekly on Sundays exclusively for CBS All Access subscribers in the U.S. The 15-episode season will be released in two parts. The first eight episodes will run from Sept. 24 through Nov. 5. The season will then resume in January 2018.
"

Variety also revealed a plan for a mid-season break going from November to January 2018.

It’s about time we get an official schedule for the series which was originally set for a January 2017 launch. With filming underway now in Toronto, stay tuned at FNS to see more photography, footage and articles from the show !

And as always, please share your comments and thoughts on the forum !

Hmm, I really wish they would air it completely on broadcast television. At least the first episode is airing on broadcast television, so I know if I want to subscribe to something else.

Despite all the naysayers and critics, I am looking forward to this finally being released. I just hope they destroy that ugly ship early on in the series so we don't have to look at it! Haha!

Hmmm... $6 (US) per month with no contract for no Ads may not be "too" bad.

Subscribe in December during mid-season break, binge watch the 1st half season. Cancel subscription in January, re-sub after 2nd half is completed for one month.

Don't see how this is a big win-win for the show or the fans. I'll hope for the best and will watch it in December. Smile

While I have a really bad feeling, I am actually looking forward to it. New stuff is better than no stuff... hopefully I won't regret this last sentence.

That last sentence is what's currently stagnating the gaming industry. How many assasins creed games are there now? Though it's not quite as bad, if discovery does turn sour it will still be a huge slap in the face to the fans, especially since they did what they did to Axanar and Fan-films in general.

I wish they didn't lock Discovery away behind the great wall of subscription. I don't see myself taking a sub just for one episode a week. Besides it not being in my budget. This is one of the things that drives piracy imho.

I do love Star Trek, but putting a new Star Trek show behind a wall, is dumb. I know some will take the subs but i hope that most fan don't. CBS does not deserve it.

And yes, you are right about piracy it will drive it.

I think what is more a slap in the face to us in the states is that it is only available through All Access, but outside the US it's available on Netflix. I would be more inclined to subscribe to Netflix and get more content besides Discovery. I do like that it comes out on the 24th of Sept., my Birthday Smile
