Robert McNeill was Approched to Direct Discovery

But he just didn't have the time that he could set aside to take on the task.

It has been reported on comicbook.com that Robert McNeill, known for his role as Tom Paris, was offered a chance to be a director in the upcoming Star Trek: Discovery. The actor was given a set of dates, the time just wasn't there for him to be able to commit to a job on the show.

He did say that he "would love to do it" and that he hopes "it is a huge success. It is good for the fans, it is good for the franchise. It is good for the future of Star Trek.", something I'm sure we can all agree on. If it is a success and does make it to another series, we might get to see an episode or two directed by McNeill. Who knows, maybe he will do a good job with it, given the chance!

Robert has got a fair bit of directing experience under his belt now as well, over the years, doing the odd bit here and there. I'm sure, if he ever had the time, he'd love to direct something officially Star Trek related.

We are getting very close now to the air date of Discovery, maybe we will see some familiar faces make the odd background appearance. Though it would be weird seeing well known Star Trek actors suddenly playing roles as extras and not the character we know them for!

Nice article Three, I found that he has directed four episodes of both ST: Voyager and Enterprise. Looks like he is currently working on the new Orville series with Seth McFarlane.

Tbh, doesn't look to me like he cares too much for discovery. He was way more excited about orville earlier in the video.
