Star Trek Adventures, a tabletop RPG published by Mordiphius has two new books coming out soon. The Command Division Supplement and the Beta Quadrant Sourcebook, with Perfect World teaming up with the Beta Quadrant book. As someone who purchased the Borg Cube edition as well, I will say that the books are of a high quality, the art is very colourful too! While the books are not yet out in physical form, if you preorder, you will get a PDF copy, and the Beta Quadrant sourcebook gives a number of new species for character creation.

Those who follow news on the Star Trek Online website will know that the Devs have been playing the RPG, you can view the first video here, as of writing this, there are three episodes! Giving you an idea of how the game is played, perhaps even giving you an interest in playing it. Even if you don't have the money to buy the game yourself, perhaps you can find someone who does own it and play a game with them (and some friends!).

If you do find yourself purchasing the physical Beta Quadrant copy, you will get a code which unlocks the "Phalanx Science Vessel" in Star Trek Online, if you are unsure which one that is, it's this ship, while you won't be using it end game, you may level up with it! It's also a extra admiralty card for you, which I personally find to be a bonus, since I use that system a lot more than I'll admit!

Additionally, there might be some ship artwork that you may recognise if you purchase the Beta Quadrant copy, as some of the ships features are from Star Trek Online! That could be a bonus minigame, spot the STO ships, and whoever wins gets a free piece of equipment!

Moving onto some of the new races that will be playable, with the era in brackets, it starts with the Ardanan (TOS/TNG), Benzite (TNG), Bolian (TNG), Deltan (TOS/TNG), Efrisuan (TOS/TNG), Klingon (TNG), Rigellian Chelon/Jelna (TOS/TNG), Risian (All), Xindi-Arobreal/Primate/Reptilian/Insectoid (TNG) and Zakdorn (TNG). This will all work with character generation in the Core Rulebook, but the addition of a Federation Klingon is good for all those Worf or B'elanna fans out there!

Any fans of Star Trek and tabletop RPGs should defiantly consider adding this one to your collection. If anyone already has the Core Rulebook, will you be looking at getting either of these two new books? Or even both?

I would also like to thank Modiphius and Perfect World Entertainment for responding to my enquiries about the promotion.

I may just buy these books to put alongside my Star Trek graphic novels on the bookshelf (and read of course). I have some of the Middle Earth/LoTR books which I use when writing for my LoTRO characters, and these could be handy for my STO characters in the same way.

Fabulous article! #threeofsevenwasrobbed

Perhaps, they do have a lot of words! I'd say they make for a good collection too, even if you never use them!

I read the Beta Quadrant book and it's amazing. The artwork is very well done, and as a lore book, it's one of the best I've read save for the official Encyclopedia.
