Red Alert - New Star Trek Adventures Rules

A free PDF has come out for Star Trek Adventures to add a bit more flavour, although you will need other items and books!

Modiphius have released a beta ruleset for helping to resolve encounters using the tiles, and miniatures. The PDF itself can be found here for free, it does state the things you require, and the core rulebook is among them, so if you don't have this, you will struggle! But you can probably draw your own tiles, and everything else, if you are on a budget.

Within the document, you will find some missions from page 19 to run, showing you the placement of the tiles, where everybody is, and a general overview of how it works. This set of missions is a battle between the Federation and the Klingons, each step has a victory condition to move to another mission, which is going to come down to how the dice roll, and how the player acts at each step.

Some people prefer this type of gameplay, to the standard RPG format, we might see more scenarios from Modiphius which use this set of combat rules, when they are more refined. It would also be a good idea for anyone running something like this to adjust the special rules, or alter the composition of the teams, depending on the players. As this is a free set of rules, anyone can read them, and get an idea of how to complete a mission!

Each final victory condition also wraps up into a way that can become a story in another session through the standard rules. Such as, if the Enterprise is disabled, who's ships will warp in first to the location, and how will that play out? This is certainly another handy tool for those running a game can turn to.
