With the upcoming expansion for Star Trek Online, there will be a revamp to the well known station, Deep Space 9! Arguably the most famous station in the series, you might have heard that there is a series featuring it, and if you have yet to watch Star Trek: Deep Space 9, you really should, it will give you some background as to what they are adding in STO, and the characters who have joined the cast.

On the Arc website, they have published an article, which you can read here about the changes being made to Deep Space 9. Part of the reason for these change is, as they stated, "...a lot of issues with the old map that we don’t need to get into...", I'm sure many have experienced some issues with the current map.

One thing that we have already seen of the new map was displayed in "The Renegade’s Regret", with the security office and holding cells, so the texture and build of that room is something we should expect. The article also lists a number of changes, and additions. But perhaps most important for those who love the show, would have a love for Quark's Bar, which as been rebuilt from scratch, and most importantly "...is now open to the Promenade on both the first and second floor.", which will be handy, and more inline with what we saw on screen!

Much of the article goes into depth about how the station has been rebuilt, and is quite interesting. Nick Duguid, the Senior Environment Artist, who put everything together, said in the article that 2,600 screenshots from the show were taken and put into a folder to help build the revamp that is coming. We can also breath a sigh of relief that we won't be getting the rebuilt DS9 that has been seen on some of the books.

A lot of work looks to have gone into this, and we will see the familiar faces around DS9, like doctor Bashir, and even Garak! So who's looking forward to it?
