Voyager returns to a comic published by IDW in a one shot comic called Mirrors and Smoke.

IDW Publishing annouced some months ago that they were releasing a comic in October featuring Voyager, this is their first time with a comic feturing Voyager and it's crew, but they are no strangers to the Star Trek franchise as a whole. This comic tells a story of Voyager in the Mirror Universe, and is titled Mirrors and Smoke. This one-shot comic will then be followed by a mirror focused story based on The Original Series and Deep Space Nine.

The comic is written by Paul Allor, whos work includes Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and GI Joe, and the artwork is done by J.K. Woodward, who did the art for the TNG Mirror Universe story called Mirror Broken. The following, about the comic, is taken from the IDW website explaining the story behind Mirrors and Smoke.

"Voyager: Mirrors and Smoke introduces Captain Janeway of the Voyager, a rebel ship stranded in the Delta Quadrant, far from the ruins of the Terran Empire. When Janeway crowns herself Pirate Queen of the Quadrant, the locals – including scavengers Neelix and Kes – won’t give up without a fight. Amid this conflict, the crew of the Voyager has a second problem on their hands: just who is the Terran calling herself Annika Hansen, and can she be trusted?"

This sounds like a way to explain how Voyager ended up in the Delta Quadrant, and how the crew is the same as that of who we all know from watching the series, but from a mirror perspective. This story may differ from that told in some of the novels as well, due to different ideas on how things might playout among writers. Of course, there are also countless numbers of universes, as seen in the TNG episode, Parallels.

You can read more comments from those working on the comic here, and you can check in with your local comic store to find out if they will be stocking it. For those in the UK, you can find it on sale at Forbidden Planet, they do deliver internationally, but there will be delays and postage costs!

As fun as the mirror episodes and stories are I think you hit the nail on the head with mention of the TNG episode Parallels.

They should always have just gone with a random alternate universe rather than the rather cliche "evil version" as it just never worked for me I found. There was no way that if the survivors of WWIII murdered the Vulcans after first contact, somehow the empire developed in the exact same way as the Prime universe, even down to the same people and ships popping up. Things should be drastically different, some people would never be born and certain ships would serve no purpose in an evil empire (why build something like Voyager, a sci vessel?).
The Terran Empire is just way too different from the Federation for things to so closely follow the same rough development I feel.

Making the episodes and stories from various parallels where a few tiny changes caused things to generally run in a similar fashion; familiar enough but still different would make more sense.

Still, despite all my grumbling it sounds like a cool story, Seven being a rebel or something fighting alone in the DQ is awesome!

Totally agree with this.
