There are many good reasons to visit the Epic Games Store. Besides the weekly free versions, there are also some exclusive games that can only be bought in this online store - at least for a certain period of time. There is however, definitely still room for improvement in terms of "social features".

Epic Games knows that very well and wants to improve this progressively in the foreseeable future. This includes a new system that reminds a bit of Discord and is currently in development.

According to the official blog, it is a 'so-called' group system that lets you stay in contact with your friends even if you are not in the same game or even when on other platforms.

This applies to both text and voice chat, so you have various options for communication at your disposal. It should be possible to join or leave an existing group at any time - and at lightning speed. Here is an overview of the most important features of the new system:

Group Window
The group system you can expect will soon have an "active group window". This is a separate window for the group you are currently active in. In this window, you will have a whole bunch of options to communicate and play with your friends and teammates. You can share your latest highlights to entice your friends to play with you, or start a match with just a few friends from the group while continuing to chat with everyone else.

Quick Entry And Exit
The group is not owned by a single "owner." So if one friend needs to go offline, the rest of the group remains. In the window, each group member can set their own audio and video options. You can also invite other players and create closed groups.

In-game Group Continues
With the new group window also comes a representation of the group directly in the game. While you're playing, you can show and hide a simplified view of the group with the members and their respective statuses.

When exactly we can expect this feature in the Epic Games Store, has not yet been determined, however it seems to be out of the question for the next month, because the introduction of the player cards and an improved search area on the agenda for March.

What do you think of these new features? Let us know in the comment section below.

Epic has a very good system, even as good as Steam.
I only have one problem with it, and that is when I open battlefront 2 on epic, it needs to also open Origin too, and sometimes it takes alot of time before the entire game is loaded.
But that is just my opinion. Overall, epic has a good service.

Yeah, I got no complaints with Epic launcher, though I know lots that hate it. They just want everything on steam one location, which I understand hence why I like GOG launcher you can add launchers to it and you can see everything in one spot. Problem with it that I can see others disliking is you still need all those other launchers and install/downloaded from said launchers.

I honestly have zero issues with Epic.
I have gotten tonnes of free games of them, many of which are great quality and often quite new or great classics.

Some people seem to whine about the store a bit because it has less features than other places but tbh I just want to install and launch games from the program; I don’t need it to be full of card collecting crap or chat features.
Also the exclusive arguments I find a bit tiresome as that sort of exclusive stuff has existed for years with games being on say consoles for years before going to PC.

Origin seems to load pretty fast on m my machine though, so not got any issue there.
