When we think of the action-adventure game series “Far Cry” we think of a huge open world scenario, picturesque environments and freedom. Sure, in each of the titles there a villain, a bad boy, for example a cult leader in Far Cry 5 (I love Montana in the summer by the way) or the head of a pirate gang in Far Cry 3, that you have to send back into the dirty holes where they’ve come from, however, it is up to you how you do this. Do you prefer sneaking into their outposts, bases and strongholds silently without being seen like the “Hitman” or are you having much more fun marching towards the enemy with a huge arsenal of heavy weapons shooting and blowing up things? Personally I enjoy the latter.

Far Cry 6 won’t be an exception. This time the game will be set in the fictional South American country of Yara - which looks a lot like Cuba - being ruled by its dictator Anton Castillo, aka “El Presidente'”. Castillo’s goal is to restore the country’s former supremacy and he controls his people with an iron fist, even risking a civil war. The player takes the role of guerrilla fighter Dani Rojas, either male or female, trying to stop El Presidente' and liberate Yara.

If you take a look at the first available screenshots of the game you will notice that the dictator’s face is not an unfamiliar one.Giancarlo
Giancarlo Esposito plays
antagonist Anton Castillo.
Fans of the TV shows “The Mandalorian”, “Breaking Bad” or “Better Call Saul” will recognize Giancarlo Esposito immediately.
About his role in Far Cry 6 Mr Esposito said, “The challenges are to create that world virtually within your own imagination. That, to me, was the greatest challenge.”

So, when will it be published? Soon?

Unfortunately nobody knows. UBISOFT had originally planned to release it on 18 February 2021, but due to the pandemic this had to be postponed. Everyone hopes that the players will be able to explore and liberate Cuba… err… Yara this year, though.

What is known however, is that Far Cry 6 will be published for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X, PS4 and Xbox One.

There will also be several editions:

Standard: The main game (approx. 60 Euros)
Limited/Gold: The main game and several digital contents (approx. €70)
Ultimate: The main game, a season pass and even more digital contents (approx. €110)
Collector’s: The main game, the season pass, tons of digital contents and a bunch of physical goodies (approx. €200)

The predicted system requirements for PC are… well, you won’t need a “rocket”, but if you had one it wouldn’t be a disadvantage:

OS: Windows 10 64-Bit
Processor: Intel Core i5-4460 3.2 Ghz / AMD FX-8350
Graphics: AMD Radeon R9 380, RX 570 or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 4GB, GTX 1050 or better
VRAM: 4 GB
System Memory: 8 GB
Storage: 60 GB

Personally I’m looking forward to part six of the series. I’m expecting beautiful locations, interesting characters, funny moments, lots of action and sweet Caribbean vibes.

Nice article! I've played up to Far Cry 3 and that was fun, but not any newer.
The system requirements for PC look reasonable, especially the 60GB storage.

Good article. I am sort of hyped for this one..... but must admit that the ending of Far Cry 5 is tampering my enthausiasm a bit.
