The new Steven Spielberg backed HALO television series streaming exclusively on Paramount Plus, received their season two renewal weeks before its March 24th premier.

In a press release, Paramount Plus Chief Content Officer and CEO, Showtime Networks, David Nevins stated, “Halo takes us into a dazzling world that we believe will enthrall audiences as much with its electrifying visuals as its bold, character-driven storytelling. This second-season pickup reflects the confidence we have in the power of this epic series to attract and engage viewers. Halo has been a great collaboration with Amblin and 343 Industries, and we are all grateful for the opportunity to continue it." Pablo%20Schreiber%20s

Tanya Giles, Chief Programming Officer at Paramount Plus and ardent supporter of the project said, “HALO is an expansive, world-building opportunity for Paramount Plus, and we’re thrilled to give fans a second season to look forward to before we launch the series next month. HALO will deliver a thrill-ride for fans of the game and non-gamers alike, as it ties together stunning visuals with a deeper look at the personal stories behind these iconic characters, all set within an epic battle for the future of humanity.”

Amblin Entertainment and Steven Spielberg have been involved with the project since its infancy and are credited with making it a reality. Spielberg signed on to produce an adaptation all the way back in 2013 with the doomed and now shuttered Xbox Entertainment Studios. After years in development hell it was picked up at Showtime in 2018, eventually making it over to streaming on Paramount Plus just last year. With the premier of season one this month, it will bring his vision full circle.

Speaking to Total Film magazine, HALO Executive Producer Daryll Frank conveyed just how involved Spielberg has been with the project. Frank stated, "We treated it as though it was a legacy project of Steven’s. He godfathered it in terms of reading every script, helping choose showrunners, writers, director, cast, production design, and visual effects; every aspect of it, he looked at." Based on the massively popular XBOX generational hit video game series, Paramount Plus’ media department says the new series “will take place in the universe that first came to be in 2001, dramatizing an epic 26th-century conflict between humanity and an alien threat known as the Covenant. ‘HALO’ will weave deeply drawn personal stories with action, adventure and a richly imagined vision of the future.”

HALO will star Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief Spartan John-117 along with Jen Taylor as Cortana and Natascha McElhone as the venerable creator Dr. Halsey. Additional cast will include Danny Sapani, Olive Gray, Yerin Ha, Bokeem Woodbine, and Charlie Murphy.

The HALO Series adaption will be produced by Amblin Entertainment in partnership with 343 Industries. Executive Producers include Steven Spielberg, Justin Falvey, Darryl Frank, and Bonnie Ross.

Steven Kane, co-showrunner and Executive Producer for season one left halfway through the production and will not be back for season two. The reasons for this are still unclear.

Be sure to catch the Season Premier March 24th on Paramount Plus.
