Visiting the steel city for a convention once more

As you may remember from last year, I visited the Sheffield Anime & Gaming Convention, this year, I was lucky enough to be invited back to cover the convention again. It was once again hosted in the centre of the steel city, at the Mercure Sheffield hotel. This keeps the great transport links for anyone coming into the city for the convention.

On top of this, they have late night events, like karaoke, but also during the event, there are anime screenings, giving attendees a chance to get a sample of some of the most well known animes.

When it comes to the exhibitors, and artists, there is a variety of offerings. The artists all have different styles, there was a lot of amazing work on show, including Animeink, who had some beautiful paintings on display. Also bumped into @katemiawhite, the visual artist behind a Kickstarter called The Necrohamster, which only has a few days left! I was also swayed by the amazing cat themed art she he done as well, I do like cats.

You may also wish to know what you could have spent your hard earned cash on, well, there were the usual selections of mystery bags, or more curated mystery boxes, plenty of plushies, snacks of both Japanese, and US origin, or some homemade cookies. There were also sellers of high quality figures, and other merchandise. I was tempted by some of it myself, such as the Pokemon gym badges, some may also have been interested in the WoW Alliance keychain.

Wrapping up, it was once again a good convention, not overdoing anything, the staff, and volunteers were all very friendly, as were those visiting the convention. Their website now has the dates for the rest of the year, and next year, so if you are in the UK, have a look to see if there is any you can attend.

Have you been to a convention this year? Share your experience below.

I always go to the Belgian comic cons every year and also facts. That last one is also a comic con but organised by a Belgian company and only found in Ghent (Belgium)
