Bringing back old memories - although I used to play Amsoft's "Hunter Killer" on my Amstrad CPC 464 back in 1984 on a green screen monitor... back when a game would take 25 minutes to load from cassette!
Well, I was four years old in 1984, but I know exactly what you mean. When I was 10 I got my very first PC (486 SX 20 MHz) and several upgrades and new machines followed in the following years.
"Aces of the Deep" is just one example of the many games that I played when I was a kid or teen. We shared games at school, helped us when we were stuck, wrote our own walkthroughs, etc. I think it was some sort of a "Golden Gaming Age" - for me at least, that is.
*sigh*... nostalgia...!
