Big ship with big responsibility as STO's "Enterprise-F". The designers' blog say she's meant to be a larger evolution of the Sovereign class. Right now on the STO forums, feedback is mixed regarding the semi-integrated secondary hull amongst other new design features.

To me though, the new ship is sleek and graceful and definitely fun to try out. Cos it's 20 levels to go before I can purchase RA ships

I think it's a beaut! Nacelles are a little odd, being curved, but I get where they're going and I'm all for some change.

I've been flying it around at bit... turning it into an Engineering beam boat that I think will drive folks crazy during pvp night :icon_twisted:

I really like the looks of the craft. The manoeuvrability is not too bad, but its stopping distance is terrible.

That being said, i have not (as yet) made my own changes to the ship. (only flew it in the test mission to acquire it).

I hope it'l work out really well as a support class though.

From my test flight last night, this ship looks absolutely brilliant using TNG style mobile tactics. The shape kind of goes hand in hand with graceful sweeping maneuvers with phasers blazing.

I'm not a fan of the gap above the deflector dish between the secondary hull and the saucer section. Other than that, it was better than I was expecting and it looks quite sleek and high quality compared to the other ship models.

From the moment the design was first published I have been saying this it just doesn't make sense to put in such a design element that only serves to decrease the structual stability of the ship.

I'm also not a big fan of the warp nacelles, they shouldn't curve like, would have rather just seen upscalled Soverign warp nacelles than the ones they went with.

So is this going to go down as canon and official since sto is suuported/owned by CBS/Paramount?
or is there a chance of a better more fitting G? or maybe a refitted F?

Canon only refers to what is seen on-screen in a tv show or in a movie so this ship won't be considered canon until it appears in a Star Trek episode or in a Star Trek movie. That said it is a licensed so it is official.

Well, I think it's beautiful. I like almost everything about it esthetically. That being said, I am not as pleased with the "scaled down" version (losing the ensign universal bridge officer slot and the option for cannons). I anticipate those being offered next month when the variants are placed in the C-Store. I am strongly considering parking mine until I see the full version.

I loaded mine out with equipment from my Imperial Class Assault Cruiser and took her into an STF (normal) last night. My setup was obviously not what she wanted because exploded twice. I hardly ever explode in the Imperial Class on normal settings. I'm not saying it's the ship's fault. I'm saying my setup didn't work very well. This gives me another reason to stow it away and wait for the full version. Who wants to spend all that time tweaking and then have to do it again when they offer more bells and whistles.

Bottom line is this. To me, it's beautiful. It's probably a good ship. I'm just not sure I'm ready to tackle it quite yet. We shall see.

It's hardly graceful, it turns like a bus with no wheels. (i.e. Not at all).
That being said I'm coming from Defiant and Hermes-class Escorts. I imagine it would stand up well in a fight but if I were to use it day-in-day out I would have to plug RDS's in all my Engeneering slots to inprove the turn rate, and that just sounds like a waste.
I don't think my personal play-style would fit with the Odyssey, I'm more run 'n gun type - but she is good looking asthetically, sure.

All in all it's good to have a FREE SHIP waiting for me when I reach Lvl 50 (currently 2 levels shy) so I don't have to buy one when I hit VA. In this regard I would encourage all new players to grab one while they can.

However, everything said in the posts so far... I am in total agreement.

Result... I may fly it on one of my VA Engineers who captains a Sovereign, just to give it more of a chance.

Of particular curiosity, I wonder how it would stand up to Borg cubes/spheres as a tank.

I don't like it, it's far too slow for me, lol, I'm sticking to my Intrepid Class ship.

The one good things about the Odyssey is the universal station, I wish I could have that for my other ships

Lol! I am pretty much the only person on the STO boards to pubicly state I'm fine with the way the big cruisers turn. In my book they are rather agile already because of my playing style (slow, methodical, bombard from max range and spam deflector debuffs).

I used to play Starfleet Command 2 and that was a very slow game as you sometimes have to wait minutes before a 180 degree turn is complete on a big ship (you can only do the hi energy turn once before there is a high risk of structural failure). Suffice to say in that game I liked to play it at ridiculously slow speeds like game speed 1 where you really did feel there was a 100,000km between you and the opponent

There were some very good community made hi resolution ship models for that game, such as visible people in the observation deck of a Constitution class... and that made it especially eye pleasing to give a turn order and watch it gracefully swing itself to the new heading under AI control.

It's as graceful as swooping big arcs across PvE maps in a stock Galaxy class... escorts do the dirty work for me lol.

Now that I have played with it some and got my set up to the way i play, i rather enjoy the ship. I like to get my ship sideways and beam the enemy to death. Given when i want to launch a torp from the front its turn is a little slower than i would like but im glad to sacrifice that for the more hull it gives me. Currently using the borg set on it and its plenty fast for me. when im in combat i usually drop down to half impulse anyway. Over all im very pleased with its "performance"

Ok on the looks of the ship I think shes pretty nice. I am a fan of the galaxy class alot so the size of her is great. Shes still not as pretty as the galaxy to me but I think shes her own kind of beast. Shes one of the few ships iv flew that I disable to appearance of the borg set because she looks better without it. (was flying assault cruiser with borg set appearance enabled."

I do plan to keep flying her for some time.
