9 dollars for that? Most could make something like this and probably make it better in photoshop.

Perhaps we could do this for our own fleet. We have enough Admirals for the signature blocks. So as an added little fluff/bonus for completing the Command Course, our own SFA could provide a PDF copy of the SFA diploma to the newly minted Ensign.

Though, I'd imagine we'd have to be careful with trademarks and all that. Especially if StarTrek.com is trying to sell these. We wouldn't want to hurt them or worse get in trouble with them.

When I was in realism units we would do certificates for promotions (We could also do this with like a box with pips in it, which is something else we did with medals and officer promotions), discharges, graduations, ect. although we used templates of already designed real life military certificates to go on. With this you'd have to wing it design wise or just be simple with the design. Either way aslong as it's for our own personal free use, I doubt startrek.com would care. lol

I got the email about these too....cheesy, yes...but still entertaining. I also like the idea of the fleet doing something like this...but I haven't been here long enough to start asking for much.

If the fleet were to do something like this, someone should submit a proposal for it (http://ufplanets.com/showthread.php?...ls-Information). That being said, this idea should not be taken lightly. If it were done in paper, we'd have to have a way to create and sell/send those. If it were electronic OR paper, we'd have to have someone to create them (Academy, Signature team, FNN, Social, etc). And in any case, while it is likely we'd be ok since they could be free and for our own group's use, we would need to tread lightly on copyright issues. Most importantly, whomever were to submit this would need to be able to put the time in and do it right.

The point of me sharing this (hence it being in Ren's Bar) was for fun, and fun alone. I don't think UFP is resourced to do this, however neat it might be. But, if you are proud of being a member of such an esteemed organization and wish to have some fun recognizing that, order a diploma above with your member/character name for $10 or whatever. To me, it's fun and worth the money (and not worth us fussing with in UFP at this time).

I was talking about just a graphical representation, not a hard copy sent irl. Since you could just save your own and print it out if you wanted it in a hard copy irl if we did it the way I was thinking. lol

When I saw this thread I got all excited thinking the Academy was going to start issuing diplomas, especially since I just did the Command Course. I'm such a nerd, lol.

Why are they all signed by William T Riker and Jean-Luc Picard? Come on Startrek.com get your canon right and actually have the names of people that have actually been listed as academy faculty. When will CBS learn that for Star Trek fans the attention is in the detail?

There did used to be something like that and floating around somewhere there is concept art for some shiney newer ones but I think the amount of time to produce them was an issue.
