It's always been my dream to be at a Star Trek convention. And I dont mean the small ones, I mean the big time conventions (not like Nevada big, but that would be awesome!!!). Since Paramount is too lazy to even keep their own site up to date, we might as well take it upon ourselves to find out when and where this stuff takes place. Plus, I always wanted to go to one, so try and find one in the DC area. Make sure its got famous actors please!
Please post them here if there's a one in your area, and try to post pictures and or videos.

Namco Bandai Partners, the Distributor of Star Trek Online, in association with Atari, will attempt to set a Guinness World Record for the ‘largest gathering of people dressed as Star Trek characters’ on February 14th at 1.00pm on London’s Millenium Bridge to help celebrate the arrival of brand new MMO, Star Trek Online.
Star Trek fans are invited to attend dressed as anything Star Trek related, from an ‘Andorian Ensign’ to a ‘Zakdorn strategist’ and adjudicators from Guinness World Records will be present to log the record attempt and ensure that everyone present is dressed in full Star Trek attire.
The best dressed fans on the day will win exclusive Star Trek Online prizes including lifetime subscriptions worth over

Dragon*Con happens every year down here near Atlanta on Labor day weekend. It's a bit of a drive from DC, but not as far as Las Vegas. They always have big names attend from Star Trek. Last year I believe George Takei, Johnathan Frakes, Robert Picardo, and Tim Russ were in attendence, as well as a few minor actors. If you're also into anime of fantasy, it's an epic convention to go to. I myself am into Sci-Fi, anime, and fantasy, so it's like a candy store to me xD I have about 3 different costumes I alternate through the weekend--I can't wait until the next one!

When does it happen? Because Im only a high school student without a liscense or job. I looked at the Creation Entertainment one, but the closest one I'd in New Jersey. So right now, passing three state borders is unfortunantly out of the question...
See, Im trying to find a convention so I can try out a live feed idea I got from YouTube, maybe feed it to a UFPAC. But now, I don't really know.

It happens on Labour Day weekend so school/work isn't a problem. Atlanta is a bit of a drive from New Jersey/DC though.

Every August there is a big one in Toronto, Canada. Its a 7 hour drive for me but I try my best to go. In the past I have met William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, James Callis, Robert Picardo, Jeffery Combs, Carrie Fisher, Gattes McFadden, Marina Sirtis to name a few. i believe its called fan expo. Over the past few years its been getting bigger and better. i will be going again this year, I must say though, James Callis (Gauis Baultar) was by far the nicest guy and spoke to me for like 5 minutes !! (Greatest moment of my life Dont tell my wife, she thinks it was the wedding day

It's on labour day weekend. The last day of the convention is Labour day itself (it starts on Friday, but you can come on Saturday--I've done that a few times), but most of the convention activities are over by 2 PM on that Monday since most people drive back home for work/school on the Tuesday.

Well, it's mainly the funding that's the problem. Making a live feed pack isn't a problem at all (Im planning on trying to live feed it to a UFPAC if they director of it agrees)

Dragon*Con is a pretty huge event, I doubt the director would consent to that. It's a fun convention to attend on one's own though

I sent a request to Creation Entertainment. They probably wont listen though.
Are there ANY other types of events that have even a little bit of Star Trek in them? Im desperately looking for a Trek convention. The thing in the way right now is money and gas prices.
