Is that allowed now? At one point there was a rule about people not being able to have the same ships name. If that's changed, then by all means; yes please.

That's a texture bug, by the looks of it. It's a 'B' at the end.

When I first joined I went through this because Hathaway had Endeavour as his ship name, so I settled on Vortex. I guess things have changed since, so great.

Although rare I believe it is possible in canon to have two ships with the same name but different registries. The USS Prometheus NCC-71201 (Nebula class seen in DS9) was by all accounts active at the same time as the USS Prometheus NX-74913 (Prometheus class seen in VOY).

Interesting* fact about the Prometheus class USS Prometheus it had two different registeries, the hull carried NX-59650 whilst the dedication plaque and LCARS terminals displayed NX-74913. This was because the company that made the CGI model of the ship missed a communication from Michael Okuda and used the wrong registry. This was later explained by the ship's registry being altered shortly before the ship was hijacked and that the crew had found the time to change the registry internally (After all replicating a new plaque and changing the number on a computer is pretty easy) but had not yet had the registry on the hull repainted.

Yeah sadly there are a few mistakes every now and then. That example does however effectively prove the existence of more than one ship with the same name being around at the same time since the Prometheus class originally had a lower registry number to the Nebula class which means it was in development before the Nebula was constructed and since we saw it in active service after we saw the Nebula the two were clearly in existence at the same time thus providing a perfectly authentic canon explanation for your ship having the same name as Hathaway's. Besides since Hathaway is technically what the President now he probably should be using Paris One or borrowing someone else's ship for interstellar jaunts.
