Agreed Jon. Something to consider though - apart from the whole psychological issues of being descended from a mass killer (I'm sure Hitler's descendants would have some thoughts on that) do you think she'll have any superior abilities? I'm guessing that her ancestors who were the sons/daughters of Khan would have had to have been born during the time where he was living on earth (around 1992). That's quite a few generations between him and her, likely with much intermingling with "normal" folk like us to pollute the gene line.

I'm guessing they'll trot out the superior genetics at some point, but they'll have to be pretty convincing for me to buy it. I'm a bit more surprised that somewhere in her ancestry they didn't change their last name. Many if not all of the descendants of Hitler changed their last names after the conclusion of World War 2.

Fortunately Hitler had no direct descendants. Though if you look at the descendants of Hermann Göring, you'll find that they essentially had themselves sterilized so that the blood of a "monster" could not be passed on. Obviously they completely overlooked Albert Göring, brother of Hermann, worked for Skoda and saved an uncountable amount of Jews. Stories of him loading up trucks filled with Jews heading towards the concentration camps with the excuse 'I need these for my factories' signing Göring, a name which had already a large amount of fear, then releasing them into the woods and providing advice and guidance on how to reach Switzerland. In his later years he was living with a state pension and he knew that if he were to get married when he died his pension would be passed onto his wife, so he decided to marry his housekeeper.

I am so looking forward to this, as mentioned by JT I hope CBS does grab this up. I've been following them since they started. I know some scenes have the bridge parts from the last set made for TNG, yes there was another one. The set on Generations was the set that has been around since the 1987 debut of TNG and they did blow that one up. Looks like Chekov finally got his Admiralty he wanted back in The Voyage Home

Hermanator - thanks! I didn't realize that Hitler didn't have direct descendants. I remember reading about people with the same family name changing their last name, so it must have been other relatives with the same name. Fascinating info about Albert Göring though. It's nice to know that good people are everywhere, including in some of the worst events in humanity's history. It kind of restores my faith in humanity a little bit.

Capt_W - In the process of researching for this article, I came across the images of the former bridge. It's the same pieces of bridge which another organization is trying to raise money for in order to completely reconstruct the bridge and update it with touchscreen monitors and systems. I think I remember reading though that they changed the positioning and format of the pieces as it's representing the USS Archer which is not a Galaxy Class starship.

I really want to like this. Love the look and dark atmosphere of the trailer. But I wonder how plausible the story-line is: a dilithium shortage seems like a situation that the Federation would apply its entire range of diplomatic, military, and scientific assets to resolve--not some small team of renegades. Better to go smaller-scale and more morally dubious, which would also be a great entree into ethical discussions/debate. Here's to hoping the writers have this figured out ...

I am very hopeful for this project. It's certainly different but I think that's what we need at this point is different with a dash off the same. Even tough I like JJ's Trek for it's entertainment value and seeing his take on old characters, it's not the same Trek I grew up with and still miss. Renegades seems to promise that continuity with a little more teeth than the original trek without spitting in the face of where it came from.
