WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE BOOK SERIES
    separator
The Star Trek universe has expanded greatly thanks to the quality works of Star Trek authors, it has expanded so much so that novels have their own unique series's not involving the classic Star Trek we have always known.

    WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE?
There is a poll above with each series let us know there and if you want go into further detail make a post below, so which is your favorite and why?

    NOVEL SERIES'
    STAR TREK: THE ORIGINAL SERIES
Novels in this series generally follow the crew of the NCC-1701 anywhere from the era of Captain Pike to the voyages of the NCC-1701-A, the majority however follow the ships second five year mission under James T. Kirk.
    STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION
Novels in this series initial follow the crew of the NCC-1701-D then later move on to the NCC-1701-E, a newer crew develops in later novels after Riker moves on to captain the U.S.S. Titan.
    STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE NINE
Initial novels take place during the shows seven year run however a major relaunch was recently undertaken to bring the series in line with the other works set in the period.
    STAR TREK: VOYAGER
Initial novels take place in Voyagers journey back to Earth however now that the show has ended novels cover the crew after their return to Earth and Voyagers Pathfinder mission back to the Delta Quadrant using Slipstream technologies.
    STAR TREK: ENTERPRISE
Very few novels are set during the shows four year run, the book series now takes on the equivalent of the shows 5th season involving the Earth-Romulan War and the Birth of the Federation.
    STAR TREK: STARFLEET ACADEMY
Starfleet Academy covers a number of era's either the adventures of cadets from TOS, TNG, VOY or JJTrek.
    STAR TREK: NEW FRONTIER
New Frontier depicts the adventures of a new and unique crew of the U.S.S. Excalibur after the collapse of the Thallonian empire.
STAR TREK: STARFLEET CORPS OF ENGINEERS
Corps of Engineers follows the crew of the U.S.S. Da Vinci a secialised Sabre Class crewed with a rapid response team of engineers.
    STAR TREK: STARGAZER
Stargazer follows Jean Luc Picard and his very first command on board the U.S.S. Stargazer.
    STAR TREK: KLINGON EMPIRE
Klingon Empire is the only series to not follow the crew of a Starfleet vessel instead the story involves the crew of the I.K.S. Gorkon and their glorious battles.
    STAR TREK: TITAN
Titan follows the post Nemesis era after William T. Riker takes command of the U.S.S. Titan, among a vast collection of alien species old faces reappear from other series' making it a unique crew and unique adventure.
    STAR TREK: VANGUARD (INCLUDES SEEKERS)
Set in the TOS era Vanguard follows the crew and civilian population of the space station Vanguard in the Taurus Reach, old enemies and new clash for the secrets of a long dead civilisation.
STAR TREK: DEPARTMENT OF TEMPORAL INVESTIGATIONS
The series follows the members of the Department of Temporal Invstigations as they endeavor to pick up the pieces from temporal events and maintain the fragile timeline.
    STAR TREK: THE LOST ERA
The series is a collection of stories from 2298 up to 2369 (if you include the Terok Nor series), most of the books are individual stories covering historic events in that time frame from The Tomed Incident and the Betreka Nebula Incident.

Star Trek: Vanguard is my current favourite, it does change from time to time. The series really got me into the TOS era books; until Vanguard came out I had only read one or two TOS novels but this series really brought the era alive for me.

Each of the characters are unique to the series and each is well developed, the actual story is well put together and covers conspiracy, basic freedoms and great danger from enemies old and new. Its a series I thoroughly enjoy and am glad that it is continuing in Star Trek: Seekers.

My current favourite isn't on the list (Lost Era).

From the list I would have to say Deep Space Nine solely because of Millenium and the re-launch after the series finished.

Sad I knew I forgot something, unfortunately I can't edit the question in.

I particularly liked "The Sundered" and "Serpents among the ruins" from that series.

The novels on TNG and DS9 are running somewhat in parallel with each other right now, but I have to say that the DS9 reboot has been my favorite thus far. There are a lot of angles that have been left open for further exploration, but so far I have enjoyed the way they've taken the series. Although I've come to hate anything written by David Mack and feel sickened that if I want to know what goes on in the series I have to read his unoriginal stories. I swear all he knows how to do is kill off characters. Seems to happen every other book! Anyway, rant aside, I like where the DS9 storyline has gone and where alot of the crew has ended up...including (Spoiler!) Captain Ro Laren, commander of Deep Space Nine. Very Cool in my mind. Smile

I found The Sundered a little hard to read at times although I love the creativity of explaining how 'they' came about.

Serpents Among the Ruins was definitely a highlight, The Tomed Incident is a hugely important event in the Star Trek universe and it is about time someone let us know what actually happened.

I also really enjoyed The Art of the Impossible as it had a great cast of characters and I really enjoyed the wider politics of the galaxy with most of the book focused on the Cardassians and Klingons, also very nice to know what the Betreka Nebula Incident was all about.

Now that's quite interesting the reverse was true for me, The Sundered was easier to read than The Art of the Impossible. I think the difficulty I had was the shifts in timeframes as the story took place over a considerable length of time, still it was an interesting read nonetheless.

Yeah with The Sundered they were more flashbacks, brief glimpses into their past but the main story was in a relatively short time-span.

I'm currently working my way through the Destiny series novels as I got the collection book that's like 900+ pages containing all of them. Series wise I like the Voyager ones as Voyager is my favourite series so finding out what happened to them after the show ended is awesome.

New Frontier for me: Peter David is my kind of author, and Calhoun is my kind of captain.
I really enjoyed the initial novels but when it got to book 15 After the Fall my interest petered out a little, there was a major shift in plot and a lot happened that wasn't explained in much detail.

I'm currently working my way through the Destiny series novels as I got the collection book that's like 900+ pages containing all of them. Series wise I like the Voyager ones as Voyager is my favourite series so finding out what happened to them after the show ended is awesome.
The Destiny series was fantastic I could not put it down, right up there among my favourite set of novels.

The one that has stuck out the most for me is the Star Trek Destiny series. I did enjoy the original Voyager reboot "The Homecoming" and "The Farther Shore".

TNG's Q&A I remember to be particularly good.

I've read the post-Nemesis TNG books up to the Typhoon Pack (It's on purpose, I swear Tongue Out) story arc, as well as the Voyager books, as much as I enjoyed the DS9 show, I'm not really a fan of the books, maybe because of how few of the original show characters seem to be left in them. Of TNG and Voyager though, I think I prefer the TNG ones, even though one of my favorite short stories is a Voyager one.

Despite having some problems, I think the Cold Equations arc of is my favorite of the TNG books

I voted for DS9 but I have really no favourite. The only series I don't read is Voyager as I wasn't a big fan of the series as well. I just finished the first novel of the 'Seekers' series and found it very entertaining.
