    Greetings all,

There are often a number of common questions which are brought to us regarding the holdings system and projects. Hopefully, this topic will address some of these concerns and questions, we are always trying to continually improve the way projects are set up to be fair for everyone.

I HAVE A LOT OF MARKS, HOW CAN I GET RID OF THEM?

Marks are the easiest resource to get for donation within Star Trek Online, we do occasionally put the “Unload Surplus Fleet Marks” special project up, while it is only a 50% return, it will still give you some fleet credits, it is 1:25 as oppose to 1:50. Our projects do also require other resources, a conversions on the STO Wiki here: http://sto.gamepedia.com/Fleet_Credit

    WHY AREN’T ALL PROJECTS QUEUED?

Current policy is to keep the Starbase filled with projects and the other holdings only when required, this is due to both the provision costing Fleet Credits, so someone would be losing out and they are often not filled for a few days. For the 2nd and 3rd fleets, these projects also take Duty Officers away from helping to level up the Starbase. Opening up all projects will only grant an additional 2,148 marks for donation, which won’t be consistent as all projects will be competing with each other.

    WHAT ABOUT SPECIAL PROJECTS?

We generally queue “Host Multicultural Symposium” to allow for common duty officers to be donated and marks. This project usually gets filled pretty quickly so the turnaround here is high and is the best place to look. If you don’t see one slotted, ask if there is an officer online who can slot this.

    DO STARBASE OFFICERS FILL MARKS?

Most projects are slotted well in advance, with the exception of special projects at times, in the instances of specials, the officer slotting won’t be filling the marks in. However all projects are competitive so everyone is going to be looking for a chance to donate.

HOW DO I GET A PROJECT SLOTTED?

If there is no special project, ask if there is anyone online who can slot one, if you have around 85,000 dilithium to spare, you can also request one of the 30 minute provision projects to be slotted.

    WHAT ABOUT HOK RESERVES?

While the House of Kular follows everything above for its main fleet, the HoK Reserve needs to be more focused due to lower numbers. As such is currently operating a policy of completing the Dilithium Mine discounts before any other projects go up, once this is done, there will be an increase in Klingon projects.

IS THERE ANY CHANCE OF CHANGE IN PROJECTS?

Absolutely, the STO divisions are always looking to improve their holdings policy to find the right balance between fairness and functionality. It is an ongoing discussion, any feedback is investigated by the command team and any appropriate changes are made.
