What are the hot items to craft and to sell on the exchange. I was thinking of crafting epic MK XV weapons with the pen mod.

You'd probably get a better long term turnaround with selling the MK II versions instead - though PEN is a crafted only mod and can't be added to an existing weapon, ever since the re-engineering system came into play, people seem to be much less willing to pay the top notch prices as they know they could potentially do the same thing themselves for cheaper.

That's just what I've noticed personally, though I don't really play the exchange so don't take my thoughts as the be all and end all of it.

I tried selling crafted stuff on the exchange and found that if it doesn't have the Pen mod then it didn't sell well enough to compensate for time and resources. Buuuut I typically have, on average, an hour a day to play so my time online is NOT spent standing around.

So salt lick my experience.

What are the odds of Crafting a Omni-Directional Disruptor with the [Pen] modifier? Just curious, cuz I can't seem to find any on the exchange.

Without Cryptic telling us the odds, then I bet very rare. Maybe more like ultra rare. Like, drilling in your yard and finding a diamond between the surface and the Earth's core rare. I mean, you'll make one eventually. It's possible ... just not probable.

It is possible to get an omni beam with the PEN modifier, but it’s more of a crapshoot than usual. The standard VR version has fixed mods of ACC, DMG & ARC, therefore the PEN mod, alongside the other craft only mods, won’t appear until the quality is at least UR. Unless you get lucky and proc it to UR from the word go, it’s going to be big drain on the resources.

For my main toon yes, but I'm currently working on my Klingon Aligned Rom-Alien, I still haven't gotten to that mission yet.

Thanks but I'm good, I have plenty, maybe I'll get lucky again and someone will accidentally post the omni on the exchange for a ridiculously cheap price again, besides I'm gonna try it on my own, build up my beam skill to 20

Personally I'd say no. If you've got someone that has all the schools at 20 and the doffs to support the special crafting items like the wide arc cannons, there's no real benefit to grinding it all out again on another character, though the daily R&D mission at the fleet research lab is a good way to burn through excess crafting material and score a free 1200 dil.

Another thing worth mentioning here is if you go from Earth Spacedock down to the Academy, Same with KDF from Qo'Nos (sp) you can talk to the personnel officer in the NW bldg, I think it is, and get an R&D Assistance DoFF mission. This will provide you with some good resources and sometimes even an R&D officer.
