Season 11 - "New Dawn" has been is on its way STO. Its looks pretty interesting from the dev post.

It looks like we will able to command our inactive starships..

Along with new lore and story progression in Season 11, Star Trek Online will also be updated with new gameplay options in the form of the Admiralty System. Take command of your inactive starships to complete dangerous assignments and gather exciting rewards, while advancing your influence in the Admiralty campaigns.

Same here, I hope we will have to outfit our inactive ships with good gear so that these missions have higher success rates.. also I wonder if we can promote our BOFFs to Captain?

Think of all the cash they will make from this...how much cash have we spent already to make one ship be top notch I know my self I have sunk at least over £200 on the things like the ship,buying all three for extra crap having to buy ships just for a con to make something else work.

I get that this will be good for players its kinda cool but I hate giving those sod's cash for something that is not even Star Trek any more more like Sci Fi online.

Hopefully they'll let us use existing ships, I can see a new spec coming out of this too..

That is something I don't understand. Nobody needs the top equipment. Everything in the game can be done with a moderately good build.

So if someone elects to grind and pay for top equipment, it's for a personal choice and not dictated by the game's requirement.

Personally before DR hit I had a top build, because I was doing PvP. I will never complain about all the money I sank into the game in the years I've played it because it was a personal choice of mine and the game did not force me to spend that money. Now my build is less optimal than it was. I don't have and never will have gold equipment. My equipment sets are old and not the cool new things. Nobody is forcing me to grind or pay for the new things.

Now I'm glad because ships I spent money on that I don't use anymore will become useful again, and equipment I'm keeping in my bank for no reason will become useful again. I know not everyone is in my situation, but I don't think you'll need top line ships with Mk XIV gold weapons to complete the Admiralty missions. I'm sure if you throw basic equipment from the exchange or that you craft will be sufficient.

Whilst what you are saying is entirely true, MMOs are often addicting, in the sense that you buy ZEN once and get all the goodies, you end up doing it again because its grind vs money.. and alot of the stuff that is cool is locked behind a paywall anyway.

The beauty of STO is that you can make anything work, whilst there are clear-cut and better ways to go about things, you can play this game and do well whatever your playstyle is, whether is having fun as a torpedo bomber or being a DPS god.

You're right. Half the fun I have in STO is tweaking my build. Changing BOFF abilities and changing ships to change my play style.

So I was listening to Trek Radio live from the STO Panel and apparently it is Doffing just with ships, at least what they have said so far about the system.
