Hi everyone! In what is a rare but in reality somewhat low-key announcement, I would like to announce that I’ll be moving on from the UFPlanets.com Presidency role at the end of this month (January 2016), in order to focus what time commitments I can give, onto the Federation News Service.

Serving in the role for the past few years (since January 2012), and having some fantastic people to work with, both in FEO and SFC has been considerably rewarding for me and I hope others too. The journey we’ve gone through over the past 5 years in particular, to re-orient ourselves and our thinking has been long but I think it’s been worthwhile.

The 2016 Vision we unveiled before Christmas is a pinnacle of that; we wouldn’t be able to do the things we want to do this year, if it hadn’t been for the progress we’ve made before. So I’m truly proud of where things have gone and where we want to head next. I’ve learnt a lot and I’ve made some friends, as well as likely some enemies (sorry, though I think most people would agree it seems to come with the job..)

In the over 8 years I’ve been here so far, I’ve seen many people come and eventually go, the website go through 4 iterations, 4 Vice Presidents, the transformation of Internal Affairs (my home department!) into FAB, 2 Star Trek movies come out, our total membership increase 10 times over amongst everything else you can probably recall.

But amongst all of this, the situations of our lives change and I increasingly find it difficult to be able to justify staying in such a role, when my life won’t necessarily allow the extra time! I continue to hold enthusiasm and desire to keep FNS at the top of its game, hence I will continue as Head of News Operations in a CL6 capacity. But I think generally, it’s about time someone else have a go at leading this mighty community and becoming public enemy number #1.

I’m pleased to say Sharpkiller will become the UFPlanets.com President and take on all responsibilities relating to that role, though I imagine he will continue to assist Jordan in engineering matters where required. Sharpkiller will transition completely to the Presidential role come the 1st February 2016.

As we transition from now until then, Sharpkiller will be reaching out to people and consulting everyone over future plans and how he intends to run the UFP, so please do congratulate him and support him as best as you can, as he adjusts into his new found role. He will essentially be expanding his remit to include duties such as managing FEO as a department, setting and managing the overall strategic direction of our community, managing member disputes and feedback as well as being the ultimate overall advisor on all things UFP.

A big thank you to everyone here, for being a part of the UFP experience I’ve had so far and I’m looking forward to being able to focus my time on developing FNS further if I can. Do feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns, as I always say, my door is always open.
