So iv been working on my girlfriends car which seems to have developed a intermittent problem which I cannot isolate.
Since this is a large community im sure there are a few petrol heads that can help me out with this.
She has a 2003 Peugeot 206 1.4L Automatic, the problem is what seems to be an intermittent sensor issue that is not throwing out any fault codes, the car has had a cylinder #1 missfire history, however I dont think this is the case.
The problem seems to be during engine turnover, the car will sometimes surge to 2,000rpm before cutting out.
Other problems include the chance of extremely rough idle to the point of being on the verge of stalling, same on takeoff from standstill (extreme bunnyhopping).
Also the car is guaranteed intermittently buck whilst moving (sudden loss of power for half a second), but only at speeds above 40/50mph.
Since this car does not have a MAF Sensor, I can only assume it is a Throttle Positioning/Potentiometer Sensor issue, however watching the results that my ODB reader has recorded as she drives around dosnt show anything out of the blue.
If anyone has any ideas, it would be greatly appreciated.
-Edit-
Iv already changed both Lambda sensors as a precaution, since these cars are renowned for those failing, but to no avail.

Thank You Aceman, I dont have a Reddit account so that helps an awful lot.
This problem has me completely stumped and I need to get this problem sorted fast because I currently have most of her engine scattered across the garage.

I looked up your issue and it seems to be a common issue with that car. As seen here. http://www.bba-reman.com/forums/Topic17615.aspx They post some suggestions to fix it, like checking the coil pack. It is also mentioned here as well http://www.bba-reman.com/forums/topic20692-1-1.aspx
If you need to look up more try web browser searching here for more threads on this series. http://www.bba-reman.com/auto-mine/p...s.aspx?make=20 Hope this helps.

The coil pack would have been my first port of call, however I remember that a new coil pack was fitted by the dealer who sold her the car.
However its made me wonder if this dealer had fitted a second hand coil pack for "cost reduction".

I decided to replace both TPS Sensor and Ignition coil pack as a precaution, however after I disassembled the throttle assembly to replace the TPS and comparing the electrical connections side-by-side I noticed my supplier gave me the wrong fit, so It would be until late monday until they can give me the correct one.
I also found out that one of the nuts holding the Ignition coil pack is seized to the point I cant get it off without the risk of rounding the nut.
So I cleaned the throttle body and Idle air control valve and put it all back together with the old TPS, there wasnt much crap in there however the engine idles slightly better now. It wasnt until I ran the engine to make sure everything was ok before reconnecting the Breather hose when the air flowing from the PCV breather connection got my attention.
I ran my ear close to the engine and I can hear the sound of what could be a compression leak located near Cylinder 1. so maybe the Piston Rings may be kaput.
Now im not sure if this is related to the intermittent problem the car is currently having, I feel that I am only scratching at the surface with what is wrong with this car.
Side note, there is no blue or white smoke, so no oil or coolant seems to be burning.
