The Federation Executive Office are pleased to announce that the Star Trek Book Database has now been fully completed!

As part of our ongoing commitment to provide unique community content, the Star Trek Book Database has been developed entirely in house. Representing dozens of hours of work by community volunteers, we have created what we hope to be a truly unique interactive database of Star Trek novels. This will allow fans to come together, discover Star Trek books, and to share personal experiences with Star Trek literature.

Achievements related to the Book Database will be following soon, and over the coming weeks the database may well be expanded to cover episodes and films. For now though, we hope that you all enjoy exploring this new feature.

FEO would like to say a massive thank you to all of those that contributed in some capacity and we sincerely hope that the community enjoys the end product. This new feature should aid in your discovery and sharing of compelling new Star Trek adventures!

Wow this is great. I am not a novel reader typically, as I tend to need pictures since my brain works at the level of my 6 year old in regards to books. Since I am newly returned, I apologize if these questions have been answered.

1. How do new items get entered? Since this is the first launch, maybe it will take time for you to allow submissions?
2. Will Graphic Novels/Trade Paperbacks (or Comics in general) be added? I have a few for which I could provide commentary.

We're keen to keep adding new titles to the database and allowing community members to contribute to that would certainly allow entries to be added quicker, that said the amount of data required to complete a single entry in the database is quite considerable. Not including user ratings and reviews I believe there are 26 fields that need completing some of which take quite a bit of research, one example of this is in listing characters, you should be able to search for characters in the database and have it return all of the books that character is featured in, that's something that can take quite a bit of time to research even when using the various different Star Trek resources around the internet, many of which sadly aren't nearly as accurate as you would expect as we found out whilst putting this together. I think before we open it up we would need to find an easy way for volunteers to input all of that information and for us to be confident in the accuracy of the information being input.

As for your second question, the database currently includes some 250 Star Trek novels and we're keen to expand it even further, I don't see graphic novels or comics being an issue and we're currently working on databases adding episodes and films.
