After much careful deliberation, FEO has decided to reconsider the current direction of Starfleet Reserves. We want to work towards recapturing the spirit of this venerable division by really working to provide greater support for those nostalgic Trek games that so many of us would love to play more often.

With this in mind, we felt it necessary to reevaluate the current Reserves command line up. We made the difficult decision to begin looking for a new CO to lead this division with renewed zeal and initiative. It’s always a difficult decision to remove a division head, one which we do not take lightly and that we hope you all can understand.

All this being said and done, we would like to thank Marcus for his efforts to keep Reserves afloat. As always, it is the willingness and drive of all our volunteers which makes this community such a wonderful place to invest our time.

I look forward to seeing what happens to Reserves over the coming months, as I believe it is time to collectively make a push towards supporting once popular titles such as Bridge Commander and Elite Force. It should be an exciting time for the division.

I know Adster is SO (always has, always will), but what about Tactical Officers?
I assume based on previous posts, Marcus, Vivi, Solace,

Hyperion helped out a lot when i was active in it (many moons ago).

Question, why can't all these other Star Trek games simply go under Holodeck, and classify Holodeck as anything other than Star Trek Online, rather than "Non Star Trek Gaming" ?

Just wondering really. I may not be getting the whole picture, but organization wise I personally thought it'd seem more fit.

They have considered Mothballing the Reserves in the Past, but i like the fact that the Reserves is a Collective Division of many Former Division that UFP once held. I would hate to see it go, or merge into the Holodeck Division.

Yes, I like having Trek and Non-Trek separate. I mean, even if Timelines is a time/$ sink, and Trexels is horrible, there are still new games developed all the time in the Trek universe(s). And then there are other games that we all play, which is unique from that. I think having them separate is smart, and pays homage to the units prior.

When I was SO of the Reserves it was, and it still is, my firm belief that the UFP should maintain and cherish an independant devision or department that is solely dedicated to Trek games, the old as well as the new and yet to be Trek titles. I think the Reserves should maintain this heritage by continuing to host regular events for these games, even if membership interest in the older Trek titles and connected events isn't what it used to be.
It's not the attendence levels that count, it's providing a service to the members and continuing to offer them the option of joining in that's important.
If you take a dive into the old forum archive's, you'll soon realize that the Reserves stands for a very rich history of Trek gaming in the UFP.
Seen from that perspective, I think the Reserves has earned it's right for a continued (independant) future in the UFP.

On many occasions, it has been suggested and considered for Holodeck to group up with Reserves and have it "under its wing" as it were, purely because of Sammygm's experience with Reserves in the past. However, with plans and ideas in the works this won't happen, mainly because keeping it separate gives all other non-STO-Star Trek games will have an official, desperate place for people to talk about. Due to its history as well, this will stay the case for the foreseeable future.

I have been on holiday the past couple of weeks, but will be coming off LOA soon, once I do, plans are a foot within Reserves and everything will be announced shortly about all the events planned!

The Reserves is awesome to have people like you and Adster keeping it alive! Thank you both for doing that!
Never give that idea up, please. I came here originally because i love the classic games, and UFP is THE ONLY place I have found that has a positive community and has such divisions still alive. Sure the activity may drop, but as long as Adster, You, Vivi, Solace, hyperion keeping love for them, it shouldn't ever die!

Speaking as a community member who has never participated in a Reserves activity I can't say too much on how it has run, or how it works as a division, but as a community member I can say I greatly appreciate having it as a separate division and the work those guys do, especially in overcoming the obvious difficulties in supporting those aged (like wine!) titles.

I am very happy that those fellow Trek enthusiasts have a specific place where they can enjoy the fellowship of like-minded gamers, and I hope they continue to do so.
