In US, my Amazon Prime contains CBS All-Access. I got to see 2.01 “Bother” as everyone else did on CBS A-A. Sadly, I miss out on seeing “After Trek,” if That’s still happening this season.

I've read on reddit that they've stopped doing After Treks and replaced them with some livestream on facebook or something.
And you’re correct in that the After Trek show is NOT on Amazon Prime. I searched.

Hey, at least they may be somewhere though... so there’s that...

You don't even need VPN on Netflix for Star Trek Discovery anymore. I got access to After Treks and everything without from here.

I still don't understand why they're doing it this way.

Don't they realize they're setting themselves up to become the number one illegally downloaded series ever, when they could've had Discovery be the most profitable show in Startrek history?

I'm going to be honest here:
I will probably be one of the "pirates" who'll download the episodes at the latest an hour after they've aired on Netflix.

Don't get me wrong, i wouldn't do it if i didn't have to, but they leave me no choice. NOT watching Discovery is NOT an option!

I have no problem with paying for watching Discovery, as long as the price is reasonable. I do have a problem with being forced to take a subscription to a service that i don't need, want or can afford.

At the current rate i'd have to caugh up 12€ a month for a subscription (to get the UltraHD quality.)
The only thing i'd use Netflix for would be to watch Startrek Discovery.

That's 3€ per episode in my book, without getting a copy of the episode for the obligatory re-watching and re-re-re-watching of each episode....

That's more than i can afford, and more than i'd want to spend on any streaming content.

Another problem is that i don't have an internet connection atm. with which i can stream ultra hd quality reliably,
My internet subscription is the cheapest available (by nesessity, not by choice) which enables me to watch normal streams (up to 1080p) ok but anything higher quality than that rarely plays without pauses, disconnects or other issues.

Yet another problem is that i don't have the money to spend on such a Netflix subscription,

What i need is a way to pay per download, so i can download the episode in uhd and then watch it offline. Either that or have the show be available at the tv-provider i already have, or at least will have next week. (i have taken a tv and internet in one subscription with a local cable provider)

But seeing that isn't going to happen, i'll be jumping through my trusted vpn onto my proxy from where i'll choose an appropriate torrent to download. I'll still support Discovery eventually of course, buying the dvd or blueray set as it is released, but initially i haven't got a choice but to be a pirate once more.

I know i'll hardly be alone. I think Discovery is going to top the pirate charts on the torrentz. What i don't understand is why CBS Paramount and whoever else decides the distribution of a series like discovery don't have the foresight to predict this.
I don’t pay for cable TV, I just have streaming services. If they put it on cable I would have a similar problem as I would now be forced to make an additional purchase. They will never make everyone happy.

For the sake of the show though, online is best for its long term survivability. Fair or not the renewal of US based shows on TV are based on US neilsen ratings (which is why people should be worried about Orville) which in turn generates the ad revenue. Streaming services rely on subscribers and views, the revenue is generated directly from the viewer. Shows can and usually do have more time to find their feet.

(which is why people should be worried about Orville)
The Orville has Seth McFarlane's name attached to it (Not to mention He has the Lead Role). Fox is not likely to do anything to upset their golden goose, their reputation for cancelling Sci-Fi shows not-withstanding.

Also, keep in mind that Fox is very close to being fully acquired by the House of Mouse.

That's why I said worried and not panic. Fox will let the Orville ride low rating longer than other shows, but they are still a business and they won't take a loss for very long. The Disney purchase actually makes it more worse. Disney has no loyalty to McFarlane or The Orville. McFarlane brings in peanuts compared to the revenues that Disney brings in every year.

Now, don't be surprised if Disney would move The Orville over to it's streaming service as a carrot to get subscribers the same way CBS did with Star Trek. Actually, I think this is likely.
