    Amazon seem to be entering the grocery market with a store that will charge your account for what you take from the store, using an app of course!

    Interesting that no one anywhere is talking about what happens when automation puts the middle class out of a job and there's no one but the wealthy left with money to buy anything. Can't wait to see how a free enterprise economic system handles that one.

    Then again, if automation makes the poor and the middle class become obsolete, the wealthy can just wait for the two to kill each other off/die off. Then only the wealthy will remain. At least until AI realizes the wealthy aren't necessary either.

    Carbon-based life may end up being just a stepping stone to the rise of machine life. Evolution never stops working.

    And that is far too much philosophy before I've had my first cuppa in the morning.

    I think they show this off quite well in the video they released on the Amazon website. I think the idea is excellent, and it's massively convenient, but I can see the issues regarding loss of jobs if other major retailers follow suit, providing this works out. I'm all for it, personally, but that's because I'm an impatient individual and am often made to silently rage at how utterly awful shopping is during busy hours and how inconsiderate and plain stupid other people can be.

    There's more to retail jobs than just cashiers, y'know.

    Heck, they might end up having the same number of employees, only now with more loss prevention than cashiers.

    The poor and middle class will eventually revolt against the rich if squeezed too tightly, that's generally how history has played out before.
