So, the Nintendo Switch was recently announced, apparently Nintendo are also going to make an online service a subscription system. The launch titles also look a little, unimpressive. As a whole, it seems quite reasonably priced, although some disagree there, maybe comparing it to handheld consoles, but this is a full powered system, which will get more titles down the line.

The biggest problem for me getting one is the poor launch lineup, I don't care about any of the games! Also, the colours are a bit boring so far.

I'm only getting it for Zelda. I think it's pretty innovative as far as consoles go. I think, considering it's a fully fledged console that also serves as a pretty impressive handheld makes the price more than reasonable. I think it's a cool idea, but I'm not sure how successful it will be overall. I don't care about the paid online. It is what it is, they're one of the last console companies to do it, and I imagine it'll be more than affordable. Total non-issue for me personally.

Well, Skyrim will be coming to the console, that will make it the only handheld you can reasonably play a AAA title! Also, TotalBiscuit mentioned in his video on the Switch, that if Skyrim works with the motion controls, it might make people even more interested! That's if it's implemented, but the concept, I agree, it's a great concept, a consoles with a screen that you can take around and play with people.

But it's going to need some games I'd play for me to get one!

I have been a Nintendo Fanboy since the NES and I have gotten pretty much every system they have released through the years, with the exception of the Virtual Boy. Zelda has also been a driving force for me to stick with Nintendo. I'm not so sure if I want to get another console. My Wii and Wii U have been collecting dust along with my PS2 and 360, not too mention my Zelda styled 3DS.

I may have to invest in one, though I have no room at my house for it. Might have to persuade my sister to look after it for me, and I'll go over to hers and play it... (She also has a bigger TV than me)

As always with Nintendo recently, third party support is likely to be the deciding factor on how successful this is. Nintendo's games tend to be excellent, but there aren't enough of them to sustain mass interest in a whole console.

While it's nice to see they've got one very promising launch title (though after Skyward Sword I won't believe the hype for any Zelda game anymore), more would have been nice. And while the improvements look great, I don't particularly want to buy Mario Kart 8 a second time. Which brings me onto backwards compatibility - or rather, the complete lack of it. In fact, that brings me in a roundabout way to the online subscription, and I shall explain why in the next paragraph.

No backwards compatibility and paid online subscriptions have been the industry standard for consoles for quite a long time now. So Nintendo are technically no worse than anyone else for these things. However backwards compatibility and free online features have been two aspects I've really enjoyed on their last two consoles and, since my only 'consoles' are Nintendo and the PC, they're things I've come to expect (as, I'm sure, have a lot of Nintendo fans).

The idea of the console looks promising, and if it does well then I'll be very happy. But I'm definitely in the 'wait and see' camp right now.

I was considering investing in one, until the full announcement. Whilst I agree the price is reasonable, I would much rather pay for a X1/PS4 with 2/3 games than pay for the Switch with nothing. The games, as pointed out, are somewhat lack luster. Yes it is cool that Skyrim can be played on it, I have heard that it is the older version instead of the remastered one just release? Not too sure if that is accurate. Main issue is, I doubt many AAA developers will be interested in developing for the Switch.

It is clear from some of their early launch titles, namely the Skyrim and Fifa versions, that companys will have to make a specific version of their game for Switch, where making a game that works on PC, Xbox and Playstation is far easier than what may be needed to make it work on the Switch. Ultimately, whilst I like Nintendo and enjoy my girlfriend's Wii U, I won't be investing for that amount of money. I was hoping that they were going to make it accessible for AAA developers, then the platform could actually compete with the Xbox and Playstation.

That being said, someone who may be out and about more maybe prefer it, only issue with that is the battery. Not sure whether you can charge it without the base stand or not, but the battery would have to be amazing for it to work properly as a handheld device. Kudos to Nintendo for doing this, but I have a feeling that this console is only for the die-hard Nintendo fans - which is fine! I was just hoping they may try to compete with the Xbox and Playstation a bit more.

We'll be getting it at launch, but here's the thing that will be a sticking point. Nintendo hasn't even released the hardware specs for the Switch. Makes it ever so slightly sketch. I mean, if it can handle a graphics heavy game like Skyrim, then great! But we know very little about the system, aside from it being a dockable handheld. What's the core processor in the tablet? What's is it in the dock? What's the storage capacity? All we know with this is battery life...2 to 6 hours depending on the game. That I'm nonplussed about, as it'll come with a charger packed-in. The launch titles are.....meh, but they, at least, have one of their core franchises coming out alongside.

As for Breath of the Wild.....MMMMMMMMMM I can't wait to get my hands on it!!

The estimated battery life was 3 - 6 hours, according to Nintendo. Pretty sure my 3DS can last around that if not longer.

Probably not going to get it straight away, mainly for the lack of games I wanna play and that you have to pay (Like Xbox Live or PSN) for the Online services.

If they're including paid subscription it'd be ideal if they did what Sony have done with the Playstation Now library. Basically a fairly large library of older titles that you stream and play. Requires a fairly solid internet connection, but if you love a lot of the older games it's absolutely worthwhile.

The Online Lobby & Voice Chat App is not integrated into the console, you have to use your smartphone.
