Just wanted to say hi. I ran across this site while looking for info on resource gathering. Actually, I ran across several but this was by far the best. I've been thinking of joining an active group so I thought I would see how it goes here. I tried STO back during the beta but was not really impressed. I had been playing Star Wars Galaxies at the time. I've been watching re-runs of Star Trek Voyager on BBC America and got the urge to play a Star Trek game. After reading a review from a year or so ago by someone who took a second look that said things had really changed I decided to check STO out again and I'm enjoying it. Since I'm taking a break from Mechwarrior Online and Star Wars the Old Republic I seem to have landed here. Hope to see you in game.

Galaxies Pre-NGE is the only way to go. When I feel nostalgic I log into SWGEmu. It's buggy and not everything has has been implemented but it does bring back memories. I just wish they could get Jump to Lightspeed up, that was the part I enjoyed the most.

Well techincially Galaxies PRE-Cu is the only way to go, 
Bu i lived with SWG-CU and yes I have spent many hours in the EMU.

Correct, I always seem to lump CU and NGE together, they were both trash. After CU the only real thing I liked about SWG was JTL, which they had the good sense (or lack of funds) not to mess with.

Welcome to the community.
STO has certainly come a long way since it's Beta days. Though the character and ground graphics are showing its age, it's ship and space aspect of the game are still great.
You may want to check out the "Holodeck" forums, as you may find other games that the community is involved with that you play.

Hi! STO is life really for Star Trek particularly given that discovery is next thing closest to being mothballed!
UFP has loads of game functions and other cool stuff so have a major look around the site, there is more than meets the eye!
