    This is a two-fold issue: 1) Technical - How do you get everyone to watch the same thing at the same time, sync'd up, which is ideal for 'togetherness'. Simplist way would be streaming, which leads to the second issue: 2) Copyright, or rather, what would be cosidered Public Performance of said copyrighted work. The cost of licencening alone would be prohibititve.

    There is, of course, chrome extensions like Showgoers for Netflix, but in my past experience, it is janky at best, and with the geological diversity of UFP's membership, there's a strong chance that someone who wants to watch would be SOL because its not available in their region.

    Yeah, haven't considered that issue, wasn't as well thought out as I thought.

    I am sure there are ways to accomplish it, but not everyone has access to such content as you mentioned, and that is the key problem, therefore it would be a serious issue.

    It is unfortunate.

    It is a fun experience to watch something Star Trek in this Star Trek community. We have done it in the distant past, but due to the legalities of things, we haven't done so again.

    But those screenings were quite fun. Banter was gold, I can assure you. Smile

    Perhaps a method of doing this again will be found. Typically this kind of event occurred during the UFPAC weekends.

    rabb.it can also be used. and someone can use the chrome plugin to have netflix etc streamed into that private room. altho there is a user limit afaik.

    As Silynn has said above, there are a few problems with this sort of thing and the majority of those focus from the legal standpoint. Unlike Twitch streaming, it's an area that requires treading very carefully.
