    In the youtube video, SOB declares these are very likely going to be the new meta weapons and the responses are starting to suggest nerfbat incoming.

    I'm pretty sure it will be nerfed at least a bit before it hits holodeck. But.. it's impressive. Time to re-visit my main characters once we get these available in our fleet. The price at which these weapons are being attained though.. the dranuur colony leveling.. hopefully its worth it.

    Had to look up what exactly the weapons did before deciding. They provide a heal to hull and shields based on your critical severity. My decision will have to be based on how they actually wind up working on Holodeck.

    If these fleet elite weapons have both the base proc on each weapon (dmg res debuff on disruptors, CrtD on antiproton, etc) and also have the healing bonus while still enabling the selection of the same number of bonuses as other elite weapons (4) I'll be getting them.

    If they end up replacing the basic bonus of each weapon type then I'd say no because then the weapon type will feel more like a cosmetic choice.

    If the healing bonus is a proc added on to the weapon (takes up 1 of 4 bonuses elite weapons offer) that will take some thinking. Bit of a trade off losing one of the damage bonuses to gain survivability.

    Just a few thoughts of mine on this topic.

    Stuff on Tribble always looks a bit iffy i think, plus added to these is the fact that they are what, 3-4 months way at best guess for most fleets?

    I know we are progressing well thus far but things on the holding will take a big slowdown in the next few weeks as the volume of resources needed jumps significantly.

    But if these are the new meta it's going to make any T5 fleet holding a very attractive (and potentially rare) thing to have. We're going to be the lucky ones guys!

    That's a very good point actually. It's not like this is unreleased content, it's physically in the game just not unlocked by all players yet.
    Be interesting to see if it does get nerfed once people work out how to really make use of them.

    Lol, and i recall people on the forums and Reddit whining about the holding be crap with nothing worth getting, be interesting to see their faces now they realise these guns are potentially the best.

    I have one question that is important for me: do the Dranuur phaser effects look like the normal pahser effects? I mean orange beam? I ask because cosmetics are for me a lot more important than stats. Only if they look like normal phasers which doesn't break my head canon universe, I'm considering to get them one day.

    If things are true to STO form, what’ll happen is that Crytpic will wait for a huge chunk of the player base to get these weapons, upgrade them to MK 14 epic, allow it to be the meta for a while then swing the nerfbat in the interests of “balance” 2 or 3 years later.

    I'm less sanguine bout this than you are. I hate when some piece of game design makes all other choices bad choices; that's just bad design, IMO, and I really don't want to validate that kind of design by buying into it. It was annoying with plasma consoles, and I expect this to be at least that aggravating.

    I'm less sanguine bout this than you are.     I do have to agree with you. I generally despise the whole idea of "meta builds" because it seems to fly in the face of what STO should be all about and what the devs should be aiming for.
    All builds should be viable in some way, and content should really be out there that lets anyone shine in their respective build (and i don't just mean some half arsed nonsense build)
    If someone builds a ship using normal phasers and someone else builds one with Colony phasers they should both be viable; maybe one has a healing advantage, the other disables systems better.

    Cryptic is pretty bad at balancing the latest thing with previous gear/mechanics/performance. No new gear should be so good that you simply have to have it to be good.

    To be fair, we don't know exactly what will happen. Who knew the Embassy consoles were THAT GOOD before they rolled out? How long did it take before Cryptic did something about it? They are still "viable", just not as awesome as they once were, or now there are better options to them. And yet, uber builds are using them still, not with the auto-take frequency they once were, of course.

    As for these guns, if we *know* Cryptic is going to change them now, then they are clearly not worth considering right now. Thus, we have the status quo.
