The U.S.S. Odyssey had been built in 2409, when the Odyssey project had finally (after a number of years), gotten the go-ahead from Starfleet Command. Once built, she had been used as a test-bed for new technologies, having been christened U.S.S. Odyssey, NX 71832-B, after the original U.S.S. Odyssey, which had been destroyed at the start of the Dominion war.

Now, after having seen action in a war of her own, the Iconian War, she had been assigned to captain Dillon Rhyne - who had originally been assigned command of the refitted Nova-class U.S.S. Nebula, NCC 60147-A - and dispatched to the Gamma Quadrant on a peaceful mission of exploration.



"Take us in, lieutenant." Captain Dillon Rhyne ordered, sitting in the captains chair on the Odyssey's bridge, watching the Bajoran wormhole open from the bridge, as 2,499 other men and women moved around on his ship. An Odyssey Class star cruiser. 191 meters in height, 375 meters in width and 1028 meters in length, the Odyssey class was Starfleet's biggest class yet, the only ship in Starfleet being a kilometer long.

"Yes sir!" Lt. Nunu said, her voice full of excitement as she pressed a few buttons on the control panel, swiftly moving the Odyssey into the mouth of the wormhole, engulfing it with all kinds of colors - blues, purples, even some reds - and instantly (that's how it felt for the crew, at least) causing it to be transported 70,000 lightyears away from civilization, into the Gamma Quadrant.
