I can certainly share my preset on here once I've finished fiddling with it lol but yes, its mainly manual fiddling.Takes a while to adjust certain options but once you've done, the game really pops. I've currently got two presets I've saved for STO which are both character specific. I've got one called Discovery.fx, which basically adds lens dirt and glows to the image and also got a little image sharpening too. I also have one called TNG.fx which I'm currently using at the moment. This one I have the following:

Filmicpass: This basically makes the image more film like. Skin tones look more flesh like rather than a pale yellow. Also depending on the UI pallet you have, it makes bright yellows more of an orange color which looks pretty awesome on the Voyager UI.

Lumasharpen: This just sharpens the image quality.

FakeHDR: This basically brightens/darkens the image and makes blacks more black.

Ambientlight: I like this one as it has quite a few options like lens dirt, lens flare etc. Makes ground maps pop. The Dranur colony for instance, looks pretty ace.

FilmGrain: This one finishes off the TNG look, and I really like walking around my galaxy interior with this one. I've tried to mimic that TV look of next gen and this really helps.

I must admit I'm still getting to grips with Reshade, but so far its been pretty awesome on the majority of games that I play and I highly recommend giving it a go if you get the chance as it really does look pretty awesome.

I just installed the standalone launcher and created a shortcut.

HERE are the known command line parameters for your shortcut.

Can I please have a new standalone launcher? This one is no longer functioning and I wish to have these shaders on my game for screenshots. Thanks 🙂 and maybe give me some instructions on how to set this up to make it work.. I'm kind of dumb

The link to the launcher no longer works(?). I have uploaded the last copy of the launcher that I downloaded.

This is the launcher that I downloaded in 2019 but it will install and update itself.

You can also install it through ARC or Steam and then create a shortcut directly to the GameClient.exe launcher file.

Or, according to earlier posts, you can just launch it through ARC or Steam and apply the Reshader from there.

So I thought I'd update this old thread I started way back in January 2018, and now that I've had quite a better understanding of Reshade.
I recently updated my computer and also purchased a ROG Swift 34 inch monitor, and as I was having a clear out of my PC, I decided to re install everything from scratch.

When everything was re installed properly (Windows, graphics drivers etc) I installed Steam on my D drive and after that STO.
As STO was installing I come across some info regarding the new Reshade app which is now 4.2.1 and noticed in the Reshade forums that someone was discussing one of the options for "magic bloom" and that it did not like STO.

The interesting thing was I didnt even get that far originally and couldn't even get reshade to recognise STO, mainly due to the x64 and x86 folder options, so I decided to have another try at trying to get it to work.

Once reshade was downloaded and opened for the first time, it asks what game executable you want to install too. I installed it on both x86 and x64 gameclients. To my surprise, when I booted up sto normally through steam, the options for the Reshade menu appeared, and from there I had a play around with what it had to offer.

Here are a couple of before and after shots of my current reshade settings. I've specifically gone for a Discovery visual aesthetic. The colours have been made more vibrant and I've added a filter called "filmic pass" which makes the image look more TV/Movie accurate. I've also added bloom and ambient light, along with some very subtle lens dirt, which looks very Discovery esque, especially in a space battle.

Im rather impressed with how STO looks now, and I cant seem to go back to default now as It just looks really awesome. Everyone is going to have a preference for sure, but Im really liking the look of the game and how Reshade can really make everything pop. I cant really recommend it enough and providing you have a decent PC, It's definitely worth it.

I've saved my Discovery SFX file, so if anyone who has Reshade installed and wants to try out my preset, please feel free to let me know.

Can I have discovery preset pls?

okay.. so I put the shaders in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Star Trek Online\Star Trek Online\Live\x64\GameClient.exe but now it gives me the shader screen when I press "home" but there are no shaders that I can turn on.. what am I doing wrong? How do I Fix it? (I am launching the game using the normal Steam launcher for STO)

Yes, quite easily. All you need to do is delete the reshade folder and reshade.ini file where ever you installed reshade (usually with sto, its installed in the x64 folder) and thats it, job done. You wont have to re install the game or anything. Believe me, I've had to uninstall a fair few times due to space etc.
