It looks like some of us are in the process about talking through some stuff on our "squirrely" officer so I say we wait a little bit longer before jumping in. That way Scarlett and Rybrarian have a chance to push this in the direction they want to go while we have take some time to work on some of our own posts.

I think a mass JP where a number of us meetup to discuss the events of this chapter would be great as a transition for getting ready to start on our visits to the Cardassian Colonies.

I'm sorry for the transition delay/confusion to the colonies, the person expected to make the transition, that I outlined for them over 2 weeks ago, has yet to do it. We were supposed to hit Dorvan V two weeks ago.

If you guys want, I'll transition us there, with a post, while you guys figure out who is leaking info to the Orions.

Or, do you want to resolve our secret message sender before hitting Dorvan V?

If we only have four days max for the captain to live, we need someone to rendezvous with us. The Defiant-B could come cloaked, nice and easy, a secret mission that only the senior staff and the crew of DS9 would know about.

Dorvan V is 18 light-years from DS9, and we haven't reached it, at Warp 7, we're ten days away. Let's say, for the story, we're 15 light years away, due to the pirate attack. With the captain's health condition, the Defiant-B would have to do Warp 9 for 3.6 days, coincidentally, to catch up to us, if we hold position. The Defiant's maximum speed was Warp 9.2 in 2371. I recommend that we turn around and meet the Defiant-B halfway, if not all the way back to DS9.

So that everyone's on the same page, this is the closest map I can find to canon and I really like it, Star Trek Star Charts: The Complete Atlas of Star Trek. We could slowly map out one sector at a time or make a beeline to cover as much distance as possible. Each sector grid is 20 light-years across.


We have ALL that space to explore haha which we could never get to; it'd take different series and seasons to cover.

We need to resolve the elephant in the sick bay too. Captain can't stay there forever. Can we get a hospital ship rendezvous before we get to the colonies? That leaves things open for eagles to return at a future point without affecting the storyline too much.

The problem with the hospital ship that it'd be a sitting duck for any pirates in the area, like we've already encountered. Plus, we'd be endangering all the patients of the hospital ship just for one captain. I think we'd be better off sending the Defiant-B, cloaked, nice and easy.

We can take all these ideas that we've mentioned and bring them up during the senior staff meeting with the Ares crew haha it's all good stuff. I'm really thinking that the most practical is a cloaked Defiant-B.

We can submit our piece that we want our characters to say during the staff meeting on here, and I'll copy/paste them all together for a final draft on the story page.

In my latest post, I asked the acting captain if all senior staff could have a staff meeting to discuss what to do with the original captain. We could swing the conversation to also talk about the colonies and what we are going to do there?

I like your idea Allan, but I doubt the Defiant will have the medical equipment to keep the captain stable as he is taken back to Federation space. I don't want to sound rude but why don't we have the Defiant run escort duty on the medical ship, that way the captain can get the care needed to keep him alive for a little longer and still be protected?

I agree with this as well. It was brought up several times throughout DS9 episodes that the Defiant's medical facilities were limited. Since odds are there are some out there assisting other areas in the sector, I started putting some thought into a hospital ship a little while ago. I dropped an idea for a possible ship too during one of my posts about a week ago.

The kids were doing much better now but Captain Wilson was still in sickbay. He overheard a medical technician comment that they are considering contacting the Hippocrates, one of the Olympic Class starships in the sector, for assistance.

We could head towards the hospital ship, rendezvous with them, and then return to our mission after the Defiant arrives to provide escort the rest of the way.
