So, that's it? The battle is over, yeah?
For the space battle, I think the ARES fighters (Generator) sort of need to launch, do their chase/pursuit, and kill one of the Orion interceptors.

But for the most part, I think the shooting stuff is over. Now is the aftermath. What was the toll on the ship and crew (casualties and systems to be fixed). What/Who/Why questions to answer regarding why the Orions attacked. And of course, the inevitable clean-up and repair (to both machine and to people).

The shooting ended with my post but I left a lot of open ended things. I didn't explain anything the fighters did beyond their launching and chasing the Orion Interceptors to let Cole have a chance to write some more into the story. I also wanted to have some aspects of ship combat my character brought up in an earlier post appear to show he's a capable tactical officer (and has a bit of a savage streak by not letting a retreating ship run). Both of the attackers got destroyed by the Ares and now we'll be doing the clean-up. It felt important to finish the fight quickly so we can continue with the journey and don't need to risk going back to DS9 for repairs straight away.

Well, we are on the right path and things are proceeding as they should if you consider the stages of "Team Development" (which a crew would certainly experience).

We did stage 1 in the prelude, we formed our crew. Now we are in stage 2 (Storming), where we flex our wings, puff our chests, and others react to it. Smile

Seeing as members of Starfleet crews are some of the best and brightest, we'll soon get past that and hit stage 3 (Norming or Normalizing). Sooooooo before we hit the real first 'new' areas of space, we should be at stage 4 (Performing or High Synergy) before we return home in five years to complete the cycle of Stage 5 (Adjourning).

I've been busy writing away today; two mission posts featuring two characters just a few hours apart. I was thinking about including Ian Locke in some posts from his perspective as a character and the situation with the classrooms seemed like a good time to get started with him.

Sorry, I haven't been posting a lot recently, SFS has taken a lot of my time. Anyway, Mell and the others will be sent to the classrooms after an explosion erupts in that area.

Appart from that the Captain is in the ICU and will be for the next few days and so far no fatalities have been recorded but that could change!

I have to admit that I'm struggling to keep up. I read a post and think of a response but by the time I have a moment to sit down and write something, something else has been posted and it makes what I was planning to post irrelevant. Neutral

It's usually about a week response time, unless people get really into a particular aspect of the story. Nothing that you write will ever be irrelevant; whatever happens, builds your character's persona, allowing us to get to know your character better.

I generally wait until I see an opening wherein I can add some bits. In my position, I can't do anything action oriented.
How many times have we seen Neelix in action scenes? Though it seems difficult to jump in being in your position, that could also be a strength, too. You're not tied to the bridge or a particular station, you could be somewhere nearby and jump in randomly. In this context, your character could be injured or volunteering with medical. You can make up other characters to interact with, too for certain parts of the story. As long as your character doesn't go against canon, anything goes. Just don't want you to feel as if your hands are tied due to your position. Anything can happen.

haha I don't know what any of this is
    Stages of Team Development

The above link is a short explanation. It is a very good model to know and understand if you ever work in a team or group environment. Sorry, a little off topic for the above, but an IRL valuable thing to understand. Smile

Anyhow, in regards to Saelanna, I totally understand where you are coming from. But don't let that detract you or your creativity. Tell your side or story. If you felt you missed out on the actual acting out the action part, I think your last blurb was great and wonderful. I instantly got a little bit more of good feel of Oma's (Lieutenant Gytaik) personality.

The name thing, her thoughts on the XO, and how she thought about avoiding him outside of her duty in social settings. You said a lot in your piece. Smile

And for Josh... who found the injured Captain and got him help? That was action. Wink

ohhhhh now I get it, yeah that's really cool how human nature is the same, so much so, we can make a model to help predict our behavior and better understand it.

My degree is in Communication and I love how we learned about communicating within contexts, cultures, channels, and media. Now, we're really off topic haha

Back to Star Trek...Picard is the total embodiment of everything I learned.

Hey all, thanks for letting me join in the great adventure. If I read correctly, we’ve just hit a quiet spot where the medical staff are dealing with aftermath. I’m open to suggestions as how to best introduce Christopher. I was thinking of a shuttle laden with medical supplies being dispatched from DS9? Or perhaps Chris was on his way back to DS9 when his shuttle picked up the fight on sensors.
