    Greetings... New here, am I...

Hi, Saedor here. I just joined and thought I'd introduce myself. First, as it relates to Star Trek...

I'm 52 years old, so I grew up with The Original Series. I was lucky in that my father was a science fiction fan (not many men of his generation were), so sci fi and Star Trek were big at my house. Throughout the 70's Star Trek was on TV pretty much every day and I watched it all, over and over. Then there was the Animated Series on Saturday mornings too. Of course, I've seen (and own) all the movies and pretty much all the episodes of the later series as well. Except for the new one, Star Trek Discovery. I won't touch that with a ten foot pole (no offense intended to those who like it but... I don't. Smile )

As to gaming... I was also lucky in that my father was into board wargames. The old Avalon Hill ones. As soon as I was old enough to understand them (around 10 or so) I started playing them with him, and became a gamer as well. Well, the same stores that sold wargames also sold a new kind of game... Role Playing Games. I discovered these around 1978 or so, first with the most popular one, Dungeons and Dragons. But I was a sci fi fan, so it wasn't long before I found Traveller. My dad and I (and some school friends) played it alot.

Then in the early 80's FASA came out with Star Trek: The Role Playing Game. That was, of course, instantly our new favorite and I had many adventures with it throughout the years, first with my dad, then with high school friends, then with friends while I was in the military. Most of my characters in STO are based on characters that existed in my FASA Star Trek games.

As to MMO's... I first started playing MMO's in 2007, with City of Heroes (which I played until the day it closed, November 30 2012). Later Cryptic (the original creators of City of Heroes) split off and made Champions Online. I've been playing this one since early access in 2009. As we all know, Star Trek Online came shortly thereafter and I've played it since early access as well. I have not been a constant subscriber and have played mostly off-and-on, but I've been here.

I'm getting more into the game now, but alot has changed over the years so I'm kinda starting over. I've re-rolled most of my characters, as I've found it's easier to build up from the bottom than try to fix a high level character that's not up to speed.

So, thats that... I look forward to meeting you all in-game!

Oh. I love TAS. In my opinion it's definitely canon-worthy. It's basically 22 extra episodes of the original series.

Yes, it had a few silly moments, but then again the original series had 'Spock's Brain" and "Turnabout Intruder". Nobody's perfect. Smile

    Hiya and welcome aboard, Saedor!

I actually played CoH/CoV before going to Champions Online before coming to STO (and this community) as well.

Anyhow, wonderful introduction. Though, you may want to check out our ARES Roleplay. Smile
