    I'm not entirely sure I like the idea of being at the mercy of other players. Ok, they said you can play solo and that's fair enough, but putting in a bunch of effort and then meeting one bad apple that ends you at the business end of a shotgun and you lose your stuff, that's not fun.

    I'm not entirely sure I like the idea of being at the mercy of other players. Ok, they said you can play solo and that's fair enough, but putting in a bunch of effort and then meeting one bad apple that ends you at the business end of a shotgun and you lose your stuff, that's not fun.
    Yeah, I just watched the E3 footage for Fallout 76, and I have to say that having other players wondering around is not something that I think will end well. It sounds nice and all, you can meet people and do things together, it adds more life to the world, but the fact that a group of people can also ruin everything doesn't sound great, especially with nukes at player disposal.

    I don't want to build something up just for it to be destroyed by a group of players.

    Yeah, I just watched the E3 footage for Fallout 76, and I have to say that having other players wondering around is not something that I think will end well.     i hope you can have private servers if you like. like a friend only world. a server you can host bla bla. that would make sense and make it fun. but random 12 year olds nuking your hard work to oblivion is not really fun.. Speaking of Oblivion... TES:VI!

    Todd did say there is a limit to how many can be on your map. I believe that number he said on top of his head is 12. But I'm sure they'll let you control it if you just want to be with your friends. It was also stated they are doing a B.E.T.A. with this game.

    A friend-only online game could be neat, since you'd be able to visit and share in your friend settlements (if they have that mechanic again). Though again the systems were so disappointingly shallow in FO4 that if it's basically multiplayer FO4 it's a strong "meh" from me.

    My settlements ended up just being big fortresses because that was optimal and I was running low on creative fuel after the first half dozen settlements. Then of course my army of ~200 settlers with top of the line weapons and armor not only failed to secure the regions around them, they couldn't prevent damage to the settlement even when backed by literally a dozen laser turrets per enemy spawn point.

    Of course if I wasted my time fast traveling there, by the time I left the safety of where I left the fast travel point to try and find something to shoot, everything was dead from like thirty lasers to the face. About the only things that survived long enough for me to shoot one or two were deathclaws and supermutants.

    It was the typical Bethesda "breadth over depth". They should have just had a few settlements, with a more complex system that actually impacted the world around them.

    Well, this round your base can get wreaked lol. GL! hah. This is why it reminds me of ARK. You can build bases solo or with allies/friends. This is where it can be crazy, if a allies becomes, um destructive, good-bye base or what Todd was describing as random events may occur and just ruin your base as well not to mention you can get nuke codes, yes, nuke codes and blow up other peoples stuff lol.

    Completely ARK mechanic or any other type destruction games. This is why they should allow I suppose servers but way Todd was talking there is no servers.

    I think it could be good. The fact is the game is still almost five months out and we have very few specifics. Todd said you could play solo, lets see whether that's actually true or not before jumping to conclusions

    • You can not play Fallout 76 offline

    I'm...interested in seeing where they take it before I commit. I have been a Fallout player since the FIRST game.

    Multi-player survival makes perfect sense in the Fallout universe, but it really isn't my normal cup-o-tea. I'm going to reserve judgement for now, and let more information trickle out, before I decide if I'm gonna dive into the pool.
