I got the gold floater pack from a (very) rare win on my part last time around on my main - a DS9 themed one sounds nice.

How many days/hours will it take a person on average to earn the currency to buy that ship?

I define "free" as logging in, opening the Zen Store, and seeing a ship "Available" to claim without me doing anything other than clicking "CLAIM".

Now I don't expect that to happen or even think it should be that way. But working on daily grinds for a couple of weeks is a part-time job, which after X number of days one "should" be paid currency to buy the desired ship.

I haven't this in STO, as well, adding another ship just crowds up the already crowded dockyard. Strangely though, I *do* pursue the daily grind for a couple of weeks (daily) to get a mount in FFXIV.

The Risa ship is thankfully easy enough to get hold of - it’s 25 days total (though you can shave a few days off this if you rigidly adhere to the 20 hour reset timer) and takes just 3 - 5 minutes a day to complete the quest for it.

Man, I never "grind" stuff in STO anymore. I mean, the 20 hour timer is kind of a Q-send. Do the thing once in a day and walk away. Time and patience I have for that.

For example: Gamma Marks. So far, only the Swarm mission gives it and you'll get 129 max on Normal. After that, for the same amount of time you'll get ... 18? Bump that trash grind. This is how I get all my Marks: running a different queue for each Mark gets you max Marks from that queue daily.

Same with Risa - run the event once and do something else. The trick is doing that "daily" within the event dates. THAT'S the stressful part for me

I really hope that the night time risa event map works this year..

I am a big B5 fan myself. That is why I started this new Minbari toon for my White Star!

UPDATE:
I just read something on reddit, respectively on the German STO news site, and I really hope this is a typo! It says the event ship has a 3/5 weapon layout. 3 in the front, 5 in the rear! So while it basically is an anti-Hurq-setup, I would appreciate a 5/3 dread far more.

Don't have to fork out 3k zen or piles and piles of dilithium for it so it's free enough for me lol

Just a matter of waiting for the stats now...maybe it will have a decent ship trait.

That ship appears to be backwards. I'm all for having funky ships to clear these Hur'q pests out of the galaxy but that strikes me as a risky weapon layout outside of fighting the Hur'q.
Will you really benefit from having lots of aft facing guns, because even slotting mines to combat those tailpipe chasing swarmers there's still limits to cooldowns to deal with for kinetic weaponry. And when you fight anything else you're gonna be a bit stuck for guns, even using omnis will be limited to 2 per ships, turrets would be even less damage.
