Greetings all:
After spending 2 weeks kicking around on the site, I decided to finally introduce myself.
My name is Glenn and I am from a suburb of NYC. I teach Math and Computer Science in a local HS, and I am completing my 25th year as a teacher and 18 years in this district.
I am a self proclaimed Sci-Fi geek and voracious reader...and writer (it's in my blood...send a PM if you want to know more) of Sci-Fi- and Fantasy.
I am a fan of both Star Wars and Star Trek...and have been a Trekkie since my Grandmother introduced me to Star Trek in 1972. No, I don't have a favorite series...I think each one added to the cannon in it's own way...and all of the series have strengths and weaknesses.
I have been a gamer since I got my first console (a Brown Box) in 1974. I am a console and mobile gamer (not much into PC gaming) as are my wife and 4 kids.
My MMO experience started with Shadowbane and since then, I have been a Guild Co-Leader in WoW and a Corp Director in Eve Online. I do not, currently, play either of those games as it was too much of a time sink. I currently play STO on my PS4.
I am also an Archery instructor at a local Day Camp, as well as a USAA Level 1 Trainer (I train other Archery Instructors.) I have recently lost 40 lbs and I am getting ready to start training for my first 5k.

Welcome aboard!
I’m not overly keen on Voyager myself, did have its charms and the odd excellent episode, but it’s a bit of a weak link in my opinion.
I’m curious what the brown box is, as if that was 1974, it predates the Atari 2600.

Welcome, that’s quite the introduction! I like your opinion on the series adding their own touch on the franchise, and equally I do love them all (except TOS, although I did rewatch the remastered episodes which were a good chuckle).
I guess I have a soft spot for TOS. It was my intro to the world of Sci-Fi and Star Trek. If you look at the show through the lens of the times it was made during...there were some very powerful messages. Granted some were plain silly (who could forget the space hippies) but the show paved the way for future rounds. And I have to say, in the rest of the incarnations, they never quite hit the hard societal messages the way TOS did (First American televised kiss between a white and Afircan American- "Who Mourns for Adonis?", Race relations - "Let This be Your Last Battlefield", Suicide "For the World is Hollow...".) Don't get me wrong, there are some doozies in the rest of the shows...but for it's time TOS was ground breaking.

It was invented by Ralph Baer. It eventually became the Magnavox Odyssey. However a few of the original Brown Boxes were created and my uncle...who worked in Consumer Electronics, got me one. You could play Pong (2 players hitting a ping pong ball between them), Tennis (2 players hitting a tennis ball between them), Soccer (2 players kicking a soccer ball between them), Hockey (2 players hitting a puck between them)...well, I think you get the idea.

I wish they had continued Enterprise. As much as I loved TNG/DS9/VOY, somehow ENT grew on me. Orville was pretty damn awesome as well. Can’t wait for season 2.
